The Stable...

I'm way too lucky!!! It only took little over a year from the time that I put down my name on the M4 list at the dealer to finally get it home...

I'm loving it big time!

Sweet! We would love to hear your thoughts comparing the two cars.

135i and M4

I did ED for the M4, but did not get to drive it a lot out in Germany. I just got it back here last Wednesday. Still very much under the break-in period. I had an '04 M3 that I loved that I replaced that one with the new M4. I have to say that the M4 is a BEAST!!! I love my 135i and I liked the early torque compared to my old M3, but where the 135i lacks is in the handling. Yes, I still have the RFT since it is my daily driver, but the difference in handling between a regular BMW and an M BMW is usually night and day. The M4 is 6 speed manual and it has the same rawness and "clunkiness" that I loved in the M3.

Bottom line, is that I love both cars. The 135i as an AWESOME daily driver sleeper that I have lots of fun with and the new M4 that I look forward to enjoy as a VERY nice toy to go have fun on the back roads!!!

I guess it's all relative (pun!), but one of the reasons I bought a 135i was BECAUSE of the handling. But then, I've never driven a full M car. My previous car was a Mazda MX-5, and I find the 135i to be almost as tossable, though obviously heavier and quite a bit more powerful. It feels like a mini muscle car wearing tennis shoes.

Congrats on the M4! Saw one on the highway last weekend, and I had to catch up to it to see what it was. It's shape and stance caught my eye but I wasn't sure what it was. Too big for me, but beautiful lines and just enough "toughness" to it.

Congratulations on your new addition! And kudos for not having your garage full of so much junk that your cars won't fit. Looking forward to seeing you around those back roads!

why don't you just use your M4 as your DD? that's what it's made for....

Eh if you can afford 2 great cars may as well designate one as the daily. The 135i may have better mileage and useable torque. And if it's auto/DCT even better for commuting.

I really disliked using an Automatic for commuting. I did it 2 years and it was terrible....riding the brakes was deplorable and my left leg falling asleep was even worse! Never again....

i LOVE the 135....really do....but to me, the whole point of an M car is drive the piss out of it daily......something i think the M4 would be great at.

I owned the E46 M3 for 9 years and this M4 will be with me for a long time too. Not a fan of exposing it to the harshness of road salt during the winters. I just put winter tires on the 135i and worry less about people that do not know how to drive in the snow/ice.

Back in the day when I bought the M3 I leased a little Honda Civic while I paid off the M3, so having a 135i for a DD is a big step.

I read about people that put their 135i away for the winter...

philosophical difference I suppose. I don't believe in 'winter beaters'.

if I'm gonna spend hardcore money on a car I refuse to save it for the next owner! life is too short for that!

either way....enjoy it in good health!!!
