Greetings fellow bimmers, I’m looking to change the wheels on my 128i soon.

Current setup is stock suspension, square 205/50/17 on stock 256 17” wheels. I’m planning on keeping the stock wheels for now. As for tires I want to go with a wider tire.

I’ve been doing some reading and I’ve come to the conclusion that what I want is within the 225/45/17 squared size.

Anyone changed their tires to a wider size on non-sport suspension and stock 17”s?

Any insight and opinions you can provide are strongly appreciated.

You should be perfectly fine with 225/45/17 tires. The calculated overall diameter is less than 1% difference so your speedometer still shows correct-ish speed.

Assuming your wheels can accommodate 225's , a square setup in that size is perfect. I've been running square 225's in 18" for years and it really suits the 128i. Just buy the best quality rubber you can afford. Tires make the single biggest improvement you can make.
