E46 M3 LSD into 135i

I’ve been narrowing down my LSD options for my 135i DCT. Lot of helical setups, which are nice, but not the handling characteristics I’m looking for. Not chasing lap times, I want “character” and a playful setup slightly more aggressive than a factory M LSD, but without clunking at low speeds.

I’ve inquired with Mfactory about their plate LSD and if it can be tuned to be less aggressive (quiet). Awaiting a response and will update accordingly.

My other recent thought was when i noticed the E46 M3 uses a 210mm differential and the LSD is bolted not welded. These can be easily purchased for $3-500 used. All you have to do is machine the 135i welds off and install.

Am I missing something? Or should this work? And yes I realize it will technically be “inferior” to the helical setups for track performance and longevity. But the track performance means nothing to me, character is all I’m after.

Are there other 210mm M LSD’s that can be swapped in?
