I appreciate it boss. I've literally had this valve cover on and off like 4 times by now.. getting quite good at it lol.

It should've been just fine since I cleaned everything well doing MILVS. But we'll see when I go back in there.
When i replaced the headgasket on my 944 turbo, i made super sure that everything was spotless, clean and dry. On start up a slight ticking noise came, i made certain it was not a knock and checked.

A couple of days later, the noise did not go away, so i tore it down again, and found a tiny groove on cylinder 2, it did not catch my nail or anything, but it appears that some foreign object got in there, looked like a grain of sand or something, it was that small.

Lucky for me, the engine did not get any other damage, no excessive oil consumption etc. Point is, the smallest debris can ruin your day.

BAN_M2C First off love the subtle name change lol. Been following your social media religiously with this M2 Comp it looks so damn good. Have to say I'm very disappointed in the lack of exhaust sounds in this video though LOL (i kid).

I've been super busy lately and haven't had time to do another proper wash/shoot of my car but I did FINALLY wrap the hood and I am so happy with how it looks now. I've been getting compliments on the car left and right lately from all kinds of folks and I'm eating it up haha. I have some real pictures from the cruise last week that I still need to upload to flickr and post but here's a quick snap of my filthy beast in the garage at work for now:

Thanks, they are 18x8 et47 and 18x8.5 et50 style 101s. They were dealer take offs, and left in a corner for years.

Installed new slotted rotors and Akebono pads. Need another 500 miles or so to properly bed them, but they feel and stop so much better than the other pads that where on the car.

Just ordered the following:

TRW upper and lower M3 arms including all related hardware (bolts/nuts etc).

Rear M3 SF bushings including new hardware (those 4 bolts)

ST Suspension E82 sway bar kit (28mm front + 15mm rear including bushings). I went for ST because they are painted black and resemble stock form so i can get away without TÜV for a bit.

Meyle HD sway bar end links front and rear + hardware

M3 headlight level arm + hardware.

Basically i made sure that all the nuts and bolts for any item that would be loosened/removed will be replaced, required or not. Everything should arrive by the end of the week, next week i will start with the RSFB + sway bar first since it is the most labor intensive. Then move to the front end, the KW shop is 15kms away so it will be nice to send the car there once done, get it aligned (-2.0 to -2.3 camber is my goal since i am already at -1.7) and maybe get it a tad lowered (5-10mm leaving room for 245 tires in the future).

That + new winter tires it has been expensive, but there are no track days till..well December. Zolder has a night time track day, would be nice to see if i can get a LSD installed next month, if not no worries, there are snow drift days in Jan/Feb.

It's a short wheelbase car. Its how they are. Not saying that you can't fix most of it, but it'll never be 100%

Yeah, taking a different line in certain corners helped, too. But, it didn't feel like a short wheelbase instability, just a soft suspension instability.

FWIW, it's not that short of a wheelbase. The 911, Cayman, WRX, E30 M3, BRZ, 370Z, Viper, Golf R, TT, etc. all have a shorter wheelbase than the 135i. The 135i's wheelbase is kind of long, considering its overall length.

So I need to get a serpentine belt because mine has a consistent squeal now. I was trying to be cheap and hold out until winter break. I'm putting her up in a month I'm gonna push it lol

Those all make sense in my head other than the Viper, that's crazy to me.

Agree...

Long wheelbase (for its size) with short overhangs.

Anyone using RK rotors with EBC redstuff? They sell them are a nice cheap package here (Around $350 CAD total). I took the car in for a quick inspection and winter tire swap before I'm gone away to basic training for the Air Force. Indy mechanic said I need front brakes like last week lol.

All parts arrived today, except the sway bars. Just got an email stating that it i out today, should see it arrive tomorrow, hell even the winter tires arrived. Nice to see 3318 on two tires and 3418 on another 2 (33rd week and 34th week of 2018 manufacturing date).

After going through all those nuts and bolts, i forgot to order the rear sway bar end link lower bolt and the front sway bar bracket bolts. Will wait for the sway bar to arrive first and see if it comes with hardware or not, then make another bolt order.

I think it was you or another gentleman who said this to me in the N52 section, and when i checked that information is indeed correct. If i am not mistaken the E82 has a 1" shorter wheelbase than the E36 M3 and 2" shorter than the E46 M3 (need to double check).

Took it to the track at Summit Main this past weekend, first time there, had a blast! Moving to a 235 square setup and the lighter 18's has really made my 128i feel more capable, really surprised at the difference 10mm of tire and a few pounds of weight made. Ran a 1:31.5 with traffic, pretty sure with a few more visits and some clear track it'll be below 1:30.

Swapped the pads back to stock BMW pads and cleaned the brakes and track wheels up. Looks like the calipers are going to be due for a rebuild after only a year and a half or so. Tops of the pistons are cooked and the dust seals are cracked and shot. I had factored this possibility in when shopping for a brake upgrade, but was hoping that on the 128i these calipers might last a little longer...

That's a good time! I was pulling 1:40 a couple months ago; before LSD, better tires, and shorter final gearing. I'm booked there on the waiting list with NASA for November 10-11, and I can't wait (it's my OG track lol). Sorry we didn't end up meeting.

Yeah, I believe you're correct. The E82 has a short wheelbase for BMW, but, overall, it's not really all that short compared to other sports cars. Of course, I like the long wheelbase, because that allows for a somewhat usable backseat, which is the reason I bought the car in the first place.

When i compare the E82 to my last owned MK7.5 Golf R, they are nearly identical in size (length wise).

While the E82 has a deeper boot/trunk than the R, the R has more rear leg room.

So it was either more legroom for rear passengers w/smaller trunk or a larger trunk with less rear legroom.

My 1 sprung an oil leak. Don't know where it's coming from yet. I guess it's either the OFHG or valve cover. Have my BMW tech buddy coming over tonight to take a look. Undertray is pretty wet and I'm getting drips on my garage floor. Explains why I had to add half a quart about two weeks ago.

Of course this couldn't happen when I had extended warranty coverage 5k miles ago.
