I found this thread:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ighlight=dakar But if it was this one, looks like its lost some of the additions- I don't think the brakes are still on there.... |

No interior shots- it HAS to be the same car, every mod listed on the for sale ad was on the powerbeast car. I wonder if it still has the bmw performance seats in it? Anyone know who he sold it to?
Was his car painted from the factory like that, or did he have it redone? I wonder if this guy stripped off and sold a lot of parts... I guess I could email him and ask about interior shots. Flzrider- cool to see another Miami guy on here. |

I just requested interior shots from the seller and wrote powerbeast asking him if he stripped anything off the car before selling it. So far I only can tell that they got rid of the BBK and the sweet ass wheels and put some yucky wheels on there. If that's all they changed, maybe this is worth a look. Apparently the CF roof is real?! That's cool.

Hmmm... and the ad mentions BMW Performance Trunk Lid Spoiler, but I'm not seeing it in the pictures, and its pretty visible in the old powerbeast pics so that's suspect.
Detailed vehicle history report shows that Powerbeast sold it to a guy in Boca. At that time it had 4,600 miles. Two years later it is reported as being an auto auction car with 15,210 miles. So the latest buyer put another 3,000 miles on it. I feel suspicious. But those original pictures of the car bad in 2012 are boner-worthy. Its just that knowing what he wanted for it in 2012, and now its 2015 and these cars haven't depreciated much, I wonder how this guy has it for sale at $59k when Powerbeast was asking like over $100k back in the day. Even if he sold it for $80k, makes me wonder how its $59k now. I hope seller sends me interior shots as requested. |

I guess the wheels and brakes being taken off probably shaved $10k right off the bat. I can only hope that the present brakes are at least correct stock units.

My general feeling here is that everyone wants to mod their car (to varying degrees)... but no one wants to buy a modified car. |

I got a pm from original owner- he also took out the seats before selling, and I presume he took off the other bmw performance stuff from the inside as well.

Comfort Access yes, but remote start? Not an option as far as I know.

I did some research on old threads last night. I found the pictures of the car as it was having the roof installed, and having the paint done. It looks, at least from the pics, like it was done right. That said, its now had 2 owners since the original, and a lot of the awesome stuff is no longer on the car. Now sure, it has the exhaust and suspension (which I would like).
I've decided that although I think it looks very cool and unique, it kills one of the original reasons I was going to get a 1M, and that is it makes financial sense. In my mind, if I buy a 1M and put relatively few miles on it (not a problem, my commute is like 3 miles and I barely do 6k miles a year on my car) the car should not lose too much value. My logic is that I could own a 1M for 3 years, and end up having the cost be similar to an accord (because I'm sure it will lose SOME value, and there will be some repairs and insurance will be higher). But if I bought this one, its kind of a gamble because not many buyers are going to be comfortable with it. It may end up being worth less. Also, even though it looks to have been done well, the whole car ultimately was disassembled at one point and its just a scary prospect. I really want a car to just enjoy and not worry about paint bubbling up or the roof coming loose or whatever else may come. I dunno, maybe I'll change my mind again, but right now I'd feel way better about a VO stripper (but with bluetooth) with 20k miles for $52k. |
