The 255/40 really fills up the wheel well. I have ST Coilovers. Just looks chubby in there. I’ve had 255/35 before also.

Glad I'm not the only one that does intermediates. It just makes sense.

I was a big big fan of Hakkas....until I tried Michelin X Ice 3s. The dry performance is soooooo much better and the snow and ice performance is virtually the same. A much better snow tire for my purposes. No need for an intermediate tire with X-Ice 3s they are really good even in 50 degree weather.

I'm running Michelin PS4 tires. Not to be confused with Michelin PS4 S.

Yeah I keep trying to find the best winter tire. I like Pirelli Sotto's and Michelin PA4's but they are not the best in snow, I was down to only 1 car this winter and wanted to try the Hakka R2s, only had then on X3 or X5 before. Definitely too squishy for my driving style on the faster cars. Plus I almost toasted them in 1 season, I have a square winter setup, they will be good for 1 more season if my other cars can share the winter time.

I run AS from April 1 to X and end of Oct to mid Dec. Cheaper than burning up $250 snow tires and I dont risk summers at those times because I drive to aggressive. Once in the M5 we had a freak snow in early Nov and didnt have the AS on and almost died on my summers.

DSW06's in stock sizes for me. I think I liked the feel of the car better with the stock Bridgestone runflats....

I have the DSW's for my AS set on the M5 and they are really an awesome all around tire. Definitely my future AS choice if $$ is not a factor.

My Hankooks up front still have wear left after 30k miles. I'm pleasantly suprised by that. My rears never seem to exceed 15k before they have to be replaced. Heck, they always look worn after 7k miles. I've resigned myself to cheap chinese tires back there. Other tires I put back there: Conti's, hankooks.

225/40R18 front 255/35R18 rear Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus and 215/45R17 Blizzacks for the winter. The PZeros were selected for their excellent wet performance, comfort, and wear as well as dry performance that's just slightly better than the OEM run flats.

The X-ice 3 are perfect man. You will love them. The PA4s are definitely nowhere near the quality of Hakkas in snow but the Xi3 are!!! Without the sloppy dry ride!

Like you I run only square setups for snow tires on my 1M and did the same previously on my 135is
