ECS Tuning 2pcs Drilled and Slotted Front Rotors

Hey guys,

Any reviews on these rotors & what kind of pads did you pair them with?

I purchased a set and paired them with Brembo Ceramic Pads.
Lets just say I'm disappointed with the pads, it appears I'm getting pad smearing and uneven deposits on my rotors.

Everything was installed correctly and bedding procedure was followed.
I reaching out to Brembo and currently waiting for a response as to why this is happening with regular driving.

In the meantime I'll be purchasing new pads.

Any recommendations?

The lightweight 2pc set? I have the E46M3CSL version on my 1er and have no complaints, same weight as the RB they replaced, good feedback, great fade resistance. Using RB street pads. No smearing.

I've read that ceramic pads aren't recommended on true 2pc floating rotors. Might be a temp thing. Dunno.

I'll look into that, if true that would explain my pad smearing.

What did you have to do in order to run the CSL rotors? Are you still using the stock 6 pot Brembos?

I ripped out my whole front end.

Now on F8xM front uprights to maximize geometry and run E9xM3 Ohlins, 1M end links, E82 bearings, E46M3CSL rotors for a midsized bbk upgrade, on my msport brembos with the ears removed and RB street pads. It's a great combo.

Hydra Performance makes a custom milled caliper bracket to replace the stock bracket and make it all work.

The CSL rotors are 245mm if I recall.

I actually did go this route earlier this year on my 128i with the performance brake kit: ECS by Stop Tech, 2 pc drilled/slotted up front and slotted/drilled in the back . Figuring out which rotor application to use on the rears was complicated (they are the same as the standard 128i rotors). I went with EBC Red Stuff pads for lower dust, but they are really good with initial bite and overall braking. The tech who did the install was quite impressed. I would NOT use this set up for track as the Red Stuff pads will fade after multiple stops. In fact, they faded badly during the bedding process. My car is street use/DD, so I won't reach that kind of brake temp in normal driving.

One thing I want to add here is that I complained about inconsistent and sometimes mushy pedal feel to both the dealer and my indy. Both claimed it was normal operation. When this set up was installed (with braided hoses), I insisted that the ABS system was also bled. This made ALL the difference as I now have a very solid/firm pedal, consistent height, and no mushiness!
