In Production For Over A Week?
So this is my first order and am a tad worried even after reading several threads regarding the entire waiting game. My 135i was ordered on 9/1/11 and went into production, per CA and BMW customer service person, on 9/7/11 at 6:47am PST (time here in CA). Today when I went online (apparently notorious for being wrong) the options listed are still not complete and only shows "production begins" in the timeline chart, the 800 line still stated today that it's scheduled for production with no confirmed start date yet and the BMW customer service person reconfirmed again today that the car is in production currently but doesn't know when it will be completed. Is this normal? I have been trying to reach CA for 2 days in order to see if they could get more info... I just want to try to gauge when it might actually get here but can't do that if nobody seems to know when production will be complete.... oh the anticipation. So basically just want to know from you guys if anyone else is in the same position right now, or has been, and if this is all normal or should I be really concerned that nobody knows when this thing is going to be done with production and that the site still has my build wrong? Thanks!

I had concerns when I ordered mine as well.
The build was wrong until pretty much delivery date but it did come with all the ordered options. Your CA has an order screen that shows it exactly as you ordered it although discrepancies with the online system are not unusual. Don't worry. You're gonna get your car and it's gonna be awesome. Having my 135i is making me want a Nissan GTR. OMG! |

Yay! I checked yesterday before posting this and everything still seemed up in the air. Office hours were over so no live customer service person... just got that same message about being scheduled with no production date yet crap that's why I posted this thread because the car had been in the build process since 9/7. Then, just now, I obsessively checked again and what do you know.... this time the recorded phone lady stated that my child was released to a carrier and awaiting transport to the port. Online it now shows on the timeline chart that production has ended. Now I might actually get it by Thanksgiving.
Yeah Nissan GTRs are sweet... guess now I have to figure out which car to get next in 4-6 years lol. Last edited by Hans09; 09-17-2011 at 03:31 PM.. |

Congrats! Hopefully your car won't sit at the docks for two weeks like mine did.
As for your next car, clearly a 2 series M |

So is NYKline still the shipping company for west coast as mentioned in the tracking sticky or should I be looking at shipping schedules for Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics? My destination port is Port Hueneme, CA. Oh and if anyone out there has the same build week and destination port as me, feel free to share shipping info. And now the real waiting game begins!

Oh poo!! I think my car missed the damn Asian King that left on 9/24. My CA still hasnt gotten back to me today. My car was a week 37 build. It's been sitting at the dock since the weekend beginning 9/17. Ugh it still shows as waiting for shipping vessel with no shipping info available online and via the 800# and the live customer service person said they don't know anything past the fact it's at the port waiting. My vin also has no record on WW's site. The next boat doesn't leave till 10/08, the Asian Vision, that would make it 3 weeks of sitting at the dock! Anyone else on here a week 37 build headed to the west coast? Oh the agony....

Don't worry so much, it is probably on the Asian King. Mine took 4 days to show up as "In transit".

check the beginning of the calendar on my project site:
http://135.usastra.com/ It'll show you exactly how long I had to wait for various things to happen when it comes to ordering a BMW. |

I think I am in the same situation as you did. I placed my order of my 2012 E92 328i on 9/17 and it went into production on 9/20. Now my CA just told me it is in statues 150 and the OC shows production begins but the 800# just says it's in production with no confirmed production date yet. I don't know what going on there, I was hoping to get my baby before Thanksgiving but now it just seems impossible.

Well this blows..... my baby is still watching the waves roll by in Bremerhaven. It's finally scheduled to leave this Saturday 10/8 on Wallenius Wilhelmsen's Asian Vision. 2 boats have come and gone- each snubbing my car and leaving it to wait 3 weeks The last boat that came through was an NYK line boat, Guardian Leader... I'm at least consoled in the fact that WW boats are easier to track and you can actually track your vin on there. Ah well... I guess I'll just appreciate the car even more when I finally lay eyes on it.

Picked it up yesterday! Looks like I was tracking the wrong boat the whole time too ha! I thought at first that my car would be on the Asian Vision but then my CA told me it was on the Guardian Leader, which left a few days before Asian Vision. It was on the Asian Vision though and the CA cleared it up the day before Guardian Leader landed ahahaaha. I even sat at the computer and took screen shots of the Guardian Leader going through the Miraflores Locks a few weeks ago. Well due to severe rain/hail.... the car has been in the garage all day so I haven't had too much of a chance to enjoy it yet. I will make a separate post with pics later this week.
