Vanos 0x2E0F too frequent adjustment error

Hi

I’ve just purchased a E82 135i N55 DCT

I’ve had BMWs previously and came back from Mercedes, I just love BMWs straight 6 sound and pull

Ran a bimmerlink error check and I’m returning the fault “0x2E0F Valvetronic deactivated too frequent adjustment error”
Which will not clear

Looking back at the history the vanos motors were replaced just over a year ago, 3k miles ago.
By a back street garage not a BMW specialist, and not a dealer

What has surprised me is if I didn’t run the diagnostic check I’d never had known, there are no lights on the dash, idle is fine and power is fine.
I actually thought it might be tuned when I first drove it, checked boost levels on bimmer link, 4th gear pulls and it’s holding 0.7bar consistently which I think is standard.

Is there anyway of resetting the vanos?
I have bimmer code and link but I’m not a mechanic…

I’m debating whether I should take it to a local bmw specialist or a main dealer.

I know a dealer could cripple my wallet but Im more confident in a main dealers’ ability to accurately diagnose the fault

Appreciate people’s thoughts on which way to go?

Thanks
