What is the difference between registering and programming? My battery is dead and it costs $325 just for the battery at the dealer and it does not include registering or programming. I have a Carly app on my phone with the battery reset app. Can I do this? I installed an optima and when I drive the car after a while the battery gets weaker and would not start the car. I had to jump it to start. Its a 2008 BMW 128i convertible completely stock. Thanks

i think it only need reprogramming if you change type of battery, like normal to agm , or agm to normal ?
If you just replace the same part battery number by the same part number battery, why it would need programming ? --> found somewhere New battery + no registration = minimal/modest battery life New battery + registration = maximum battery life the computer of the car take in consideration that the battery is new, and will not overcharge it like an old one |

I believe you can register a battery using the Carly app (aka BMW What). I think it has it as an in app purchase. Allows you to get a battery at the auto parts store or wallyworld and code/register it.

Something tells me a lot of people that commented early on in this thread. Got a serious surprise when they asked their dealer about the expense of replacing the battery in their 135s.. |

Yeah even the location of the battery is much better than the E90s. I haven't replaced ine in my E88 but seems a lot easier since it's in the middle of the uder tray trunk and not hidden on the right side. 🙄
