Glad to hear it! We told you you'd like it! And it gets better after you put some miles on it.

My PE had the OEM shadowline tips installed...
Here's the DIY thread: Install Shadowline tips on Performance Exhaust

I have probably an atypical question for you PE owners. I'm looking at a 135is which has the exhaust as standard. Frankly I'm concerned that I will be bothered by the loudness when just driving "normally and not accelorating hard" Particularly while just cruising down the freeway at 60 miles an hour. How load or noticeable is the exhaust under these situations, i.e.; can I enjoy the radio without the exhaust overpowering things. Thanks

Also, you're probably already aware that the 135is comes with PPK which adds a sporty popping and crackling sound coming from the exhaust in engine overrun, plus 20 additional hp.

Are all of you still in favor of the PE for the N55?
I picked up a brand new in box one from a BMW dealer. Haven’t installed it yet.... ... wondering if I will piss off my neighbors if I install it? I get up pretty early, often leave for work at 5am....... |

Way to revive an old thread haha.
Where do you park and do you floor it in the morning? The PE isn't too loud on cold starts, especially with the OE downpipe. But on the other hand, if you don't want it, I can send you my address and a couple buck to cover shipping. |

I am about 90 feet from my neighbor’s house when I start the car. I don’t floor it because the car’s not warm yet. I drive at about 45mph and ~3,000rpm for ~5 miles, by which time the speed limit goes up and the car is getting warm. I thought about maybe installing just the PE muffler, and not doing the resonator delete / Y-pipe install. Not sure what that would sound like though.... |

I run my PE without the Y pipe. On cold start you get 30 seconds of warmup with a louder level and then it quiets down to where you wouldn’t know it’s on unless you floor it. As a matter of fact, it sounds great when standing outside the car but inside it sounds like it’s full stock.
Put the muffler on w/o the Y. You can always add that later. |

Just put it on. you won't be disappointed. besides, you already paid for it, so you mid as well just do it lol. In my honest opinion, its not that loud on cold starts. it adds a deeper tone, throaty tone. its good. I had one on my old n54 powered 135i, it was much louder on that with n55 mid pips and the y pipe. its good. you won't be disappointed. just do it haha.

Thanks. I LOVE driving in Southern Bavaria. Bayrischzell, Fischbachau(where Cafe Winklstuberl is located!), Spitzingsee, Tatzelwurmstraße or Nußdorf am Inn, Schliersee, Miesbach, Tegernsee - all awesome places to drive! Dackel

Thanks for the great info! Anyone know if a Dinan stage 2 tune will have any effect on the performance exhaust?? I’m guessing it’s louder with a tune than a non tuned car. Thanks!
