Any reasonable alternative to stock angeleye bulbs?

Ok,

So I went the cheap route and got some 7500 gpthunders, and I've got to say they just leave a lot to be desired... Hardly visible at all. I was wondering if anyone has seen anything led thats even remotely reasonable price.

200 bucks for a setup that is GUARENTEED to cost less than a regular bulb to manufacture... thats just assinine.

I'd appreciate any ideas... I dont care if they are 100% even lighting, but visible day and night would be super nice.

Hardly visible at all? There has to be something wrong. The ones I picked up are CLEARLY visible white in daytime. Pull up next to an E90 and the difference is insanely evident.

EDIT: Do keep in mind that the closer the light gets to "white" the more it will blend in to daylight, making it harder to discern. Having said that, my GP Thunders show up just fine.

i had GP thunders as well and they were hardly visible during the day and at night they werent even noticeable because my D1S bulbs would be on. i switch to RD LED and in the daytime its not very noticeable but at night it looks good. still nothing is as bright as the stock H8 bulbs.

Wow. Seriously. Once wife comes back, I have to take both cars out for a daytime comparison shot. The white I have in the vert looks great.

You HAVE to remember that since it's white, it will appear to be less bright than the orange... JUST because the white *blends* in with the daylight, if you will.

I have no trouble seeing the white halo rings during daytime, and actually had a buddy do a drive by. Spotted white rings from two lights away... and lucky me, there was a 335 coupe (nice) trailing and you can definitely see the contrast.

You guys have to post some pics. Put the regular bulb on one side and the GP Thunder in the other. Take a well exposed daytime pic.

Me, I love the halos and they show up so well that I have them on along with the fogs (128 vert) and it looks great. These days, I LEAVE the fogs off and just have the rings on (daytime running has them on) it looks sick. Why? Because I have full blackout on the front and having the white halos on just makes them pop even more.

I need to wonder now... do you have bunk GP Thunders?

I guess what I failed to include in topic is the word "priced"... leds run < 2-3 bucks for high end leds... I have a REAL hard time paying 200-300 bucks for something that literally costs 10 bucks to manufacture and isnt like a iphone or something.

I guess if theres nothing else, I'll build my own.

I bought some GP 7500 for my E92 from ebay and though them to be dim in daylight, but the GP's in my 135 are much brighter, I bought them from a more reputable source, not Taiwan.

I always doubted the ebay one's as they didn't fit very well

Okay....so....if price is no object, what would you all consider the best "angel eye/corona, etc..." bulb/kit that is bright and noticeable during the day and of course, looks really awesome at night? I want to convert the ugly antique-looking yellow rings on my ride, but I want to do it right and once and for all...price is no object.

The only reason I switched out the H8 bulbs was because the stock bulbs clashed disgustingly with the HIDs at night. The GP Thunder 8500K, although dimmer than the stock bulbs, match much better with the HIDs, and don't look quite as ugly as DRLs either. I can also attest to the fact they aren't as bright. For $14.99 though, I have no complaints.

Anyone here install an H8 HID kit? I think it would definitely be possible, but would require drilling a hole into the plastic cover and using rubber grommets to prevent any moisture from getting in. If I can score a good deal on an H8 HID kit I will try it and report back.

I've seen HID kits for the M3...wondering why no one started for the 1.
