Production number received, but...
I received my production number from my CA today, but when I signed into Owners Circle, it stated that they are currently processing my order and I will be informed once my car enters production. I didn't get a production week number when my car will be produced. Is this normal?
I've never ordered a car before, and now I know why. The waiting is going to kill me! |

It should go into production sometime in July. The factory shuts down during August for holidays. Usually, two-four weeks before production begins. Figure a week here.

Ordered almost 2 weeks ago, and still no scheduled production date! I hope it's in production before the plant closes down for the month of August.

Like jpd, mine took about two weeks from ordering until start of production. My status went from "no scheduled production date" to "your vehicle is in production with an estimated completion date of..."

Thanks for the help, OrangeDeep and jpd. Hopefully the production status will change in the next couple of days. I'm impatient with this process, and was hoping to get the car in time for a road trip at the end of July, but that doesn't seem like it will happen.

You should be able to call your CA and figure out what your "build week" is. If you already have a production number, they know what week your car will be built (even if the website is pretty useless).
Also, try the phone tracking system (800-831-1118). It's usually a couple days ahead of the web site. See my post here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=541690 about how to make this easier |

I have been calling the 1-800 number but received no different info from that. Also, my CA isn't the most helpful person in the world, but I guess I'll call him soon if the info isn't updated on the website or via the automated phone system.

Yeah, mine wasn't very helpful either. I've had to ask him for info every step of the way. The sales manager was a little more useful, and he was the one who told me the build week. You could try calling him.

dude i know the frustration you are going through. I ordered on 6-15 and went into production on 6-30. As of now 7-13 im still at code 150 which is really weird. so im thinking maybe there is some kind of glitch in updating down in Germany perhaps? Anyhow your CA should be able to give you a production build week.

I received a reply to my email to my CA today, and he said it's too early to tell when my car will be produced. But he also said the factory would only be closed for one week in August to catch up on demand. Has anyone else heard this?

Typically, BMW and other German car companies take much more than one week. I know demand is high for BMWs this year, but whether German workers are flexible with their holidays is anyones guess.

Damn, I don't think my car made it out of the factory before it closed for break. I called the 800 number today, and the message is vehicle production is complete and is waiting on a carrier. If it completed production like it was supposed to on July 22, I was hoping they would ship it out before the factory closed on the 23rd, but it seems like that's not the case. I'm not going to bother contacting my CA to find out where my car is.

"Waiting on a Carrier" could mean a couple of things. First, that it was loaded on a train and shipped to Bremerhaven or at Bremerhaven waiting for a boat. These two scenarios are more likely that your belief that "I don't think my car made it out of the factory before it closed for break." Check the sailing schedule as I said in an earlier post and see. Not sure why you are reluctant to call your CA, after all he is earning your dime.

Looks like I was right about my car not making it out of the factory before the break. Status just changed again today when I called the 800 number. My vehicle is being transported to the exit port. So, I'm guessing about another 3 week wait from this point. It's just as well because I'm going on vacation next week, and I don't want my car sitting at the dealer possibly being used for test drives while I'm gone.
