Evans Coolant?
Does anyone have experience using Evans NPG+ Waterless Coolant? It is available on Bavauto.com and they say it is good for 500,000 miles. I am somewhat skeptical about it being "lifetime", but I like the idea that it doesn't use water. Also not sure if it might help extend the life of my water pump as well.

Sorry, I must've overlooked this thread.
I've read about this coolant and I'm intrigued by it, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of data about its positives and negatives...

Yeah, the only place I could find any real info was on BITOG, but most of the experiences were somewhat outdated (sounded like Evans changed their formulation as well).

I saw a Wheeler Dealers episode where they used waterless coolant. Pretty cool stuff considering he was able to run the car and open the radiator while it was hot, since there was no water to create steam. But...I don't know what its cooling performance is. After all, the water in a normal coolant mixture is the part that does the cooling.

Dead thread revive.
I'm using this in my 1994 Volvo 940 turbo. No change from water/glycol, but what's nice is my coolant system is now zero pressure. Heat is the same, takes the same amount of time to get to temperature. Keeps hoses cleaner longer. No rust. My water pump seems to be quieter. I'm planning on doing this to my 128. But I'll replace all the hoses first. Requires a complete flush and a pre-clean with Evan's flush. I used a small vacuum cleaner to extract as much water as possible. Evan's allows up to 2% water. |
