135 front clip conversion to 1m

I was wondering if anyone had input in regards to converting a 135i's bumper and fenders to the 1m. All the other posts talk about the wider fenders, but don't say anything about the sideskirts. Does anyone kno if they have to be replaced as well or can they stay original off the 135. I'm also anticipation having to change the inner wheel wells to accommodate for the extra couple inches but is there anything else I have to get like different brackets etc? I'm sik of waiting for ltbmw...!

There are a few threads floating about.

In short :

1 - Yes, all the parts bolt on fine.
2 - The only issue is the side skirts don't match up to the rear wheel arches. The easiest solution to this is to cut the 1M and the 135i skirts in half and mate the 1M front to the 135i rear. This is far cheaper and faster than making the rear wheel arches fit.

Keep in mind, you can fit 10" wheels in the front and back in a fully square setup with the 1M front and the 135i rear. So the 1M rear isn't needed from a functional standpoint.

This might be worth consideration, may be easier to do than the factory 1M parts.

the one major reservation I have to doing something like that is the amount of custom work it requires to fit an aftermarket widebody kit to OEM standards.

that said, when the ER kit is molded well, the results are fabulous. I'm tempted to buy it some time next year. I love the 1m front end but fear the poserness

You might try searching. There was a 1Addict guy from Sweden who did a e87 1M conversion. He installed the front fenders and bumper cover. It was featured on the front page a few months back. It was a black car.

FOUND IT!!!

Does the front fender match up to the factory M-sport side skirts on the 135i? Or do the side skirts have to be replaced with the front fenders?

Also, does anybody know if it would be possible to use the Prior Design side skirts with the OEM 1M front fenders? I'm just trying to avoid cutting anything, since that always ends badly for me...

Or someone (Kerschner?) makes a 1M look front bumper that bolts right on. That's probably what I'll do when my bumper gets beat up in a few years.

You will need new side skirts no matter what. Either you splice the 1M and 135i together, or maybe the Prior Design could work.

How substantial was the change to the side skirts? Did it look like a heavy modification?

see post 79. sounds quite difficult.
also, i dont believe prior sideskirts will work as prior utilises a rear fender mod as well so their sideskirts will be designrd to blend with wide rear fenders not stock, same as OEM 1M ones

From what he was telling me, he quoted his body guy as saying "never again"

Eh... not what I wanted to hear. But there's another person working on it right now with LTBMW, so I'm hoping that they'll consider making a couple of extra copies for the rest of us...
