'09 135 clicking noise

When I turn my car on or turn it off there is a clicking noise on the drivers side rear end. It just clicks twice and then thats it but it is every time I turn the car on or when I turn it off.

I can only hear it when the door is open or if i'm outside the car not when i'm in the car.

Has anyone had this happen?

Thanks.

The may just be the exhaust flap opening up. I'm pretty sure it defaults to the open position, and is pulled closed by vacuum. You're probably just hearing it close after the vacuum is lost. Just a guess though. These cars make a lot of funny noises, both when they're running and right after you've stopped.

It's the exhaust flap, it is used to close one of the tailpipes to comply with idle noise requirements. You'll hear two clanks on a cold engine - one right after startup closing it, and another opening it again when the engine warms up. If it bothers you search for golf tee mod, it is a pretty useless feature.

Yep...golf tee mod will fix that issue, and it'll make your exhaust sound better, too.
Search the mod, then use a pair of zip ties instead of a golf tee.
