That's what I calculated it to be around.
My estimates came a little closer to 3120 but it's still hit or miss.

The spec for EU weight is correct!
So what is wrong with my simple calculation?
Or do you question the statement from Scott saying 1M has 1570kg EU weight?

not completely correct. 1l of petrol weighs 0.74kg so 90% of 55l multiplied with 0.74 = 36.6kg

1570 - 68 - 7 - 36.6 = 1458.4kg = 3215lbs

idea was kicked around on the boards over the last weeks, but seems "no". Not on this 1M anyway.

I was dreaming of that myself - although it would likely garner a $60K+ pricetag

The important weight should really be just the car weight and a full tank of gas. Comes out to be 1499.1kg, which is about 3305 lbs. So about 70 lbs lighter than a 135i based on what bmwusa states for the 135i. Not much of a weight reduction in my opinion.

This looks right, but for US curb weight you want a full tank. So 1570 - 68 -7 = 1495 kg = 3289 lbs

The 135i 1530kg quoted is empty weight. This 1570kg is EU curb weight, so it's actually lighter than the 135i not heavier...

No you are wrong... the 2011 135i has 306hp... so the 1M has now only 29hp more.... oh BMW, what have you done!

too bad it is heavier then the 135i. I checked the spare parts catalog and the M3 parts (LSD, drive shafts weigh quite a bit more then the 135i parts.
LSD e.g. is 15kg heavier then the standard 135i dif. The driveshafts are 1.5kg heavier. With that of course you get some stuff then can handle some punishments.

Weight per BMW is configured the same for all BMW's. No matter how you slice it, this is the direct weight comparison between M models.

BMW lists:

E46 M3 at 1,549 kg. = 3,415 lbs.

E92 M3 at 1,680 kg. = 3,704 lbs.

E82 1M at 1,570 kg. = 3,461 lbs.

so the only money they spent on development is a few cheesy new body panels and brows as well as a ridiculous marketing campaign. I bet bmw spent more money on marketing than on devloping unique parts for the car. I'm a little disappointed, though id still like to drive one. This car is definitely M pure, maybe more of a half breed.

the EU weight of the 135i is 1560kg, so in the end it is 10kg heavier. Of course this is without sunroof and any other option!

7 lbs less than your estimate. Makes a big difference.

If you round to 2.2 then you get 3454. However, if you extend the decimal places then you will get 3461.

WTF?? 250 lbs between DIN and test weights???

Look at the official DIN M3 weight: 3704 lbs (1680 KG)

M3's tested curb weight in all tests (C&D, MT, R&D, Edmunds): 3600 - 3650 lbs (1630 KG)

The difference between DIN and regular laden curb weight will be no more than 50 KG (100 lbs), if even that.

If 1-M DIN weight is 1570 KG, that means it will have a test curb weight of 1530 KG at the very least, which is close to 3400 lbs.

Considering it is a glorified x35 N54 motor with the same transmission and same 7000 rpm rev limit, it is a rip off big time in my book.

I think I rather have a slight used M3. The scream and the V8 are simply intoxicating.
