Again, its still great, I just thought it would be quiter at those speeds... Will a lower car (sprts package) give me better aero? Less drag? |

130 mph.
Could everyone pls be specific about Kph and mph. Also, how the heck do you take a picture at that speed? I am too busy looking at the road and 'feeling' the car. |

Since, I didn't get the SP... 135mph on the A5 to Frankfurt for almost 20 minutes solid.... This is one of the most famous autobahns here since it is completely straight and has 8 lanes of traffic for over 30 miles!!!!

About 100 mph........I probably won't go any faster than 100 mph until I get a radar dectector......a $650 speeding ticket was too much too handle a few years back........

So far the fastest i took my car was 108mph...
I agree that there was alot of wind noise inside the car, however, it made up for the way the car felt. In all my previous cars, whenever i hit 110 or so.. the steering wheel would shake. Nope, not on this one...

240 km/h (149 mph)... wind noise was a little excessive initially, but got better when I completely closed the Sunroof.... next time I will go all the way and see where the limiter kicks in.
You don't really get the feelling that you are driving that fast... which is great, but at the same time you do run the risk of taking bends at unrecommended speeds.... but then again, that's when the fun begins.... just don't test the laws of physics to extremes, unless of course if you know what you are doing.

At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, a few thoughts looking over the comments on high speed. Be careful until you get used to it -- work your way up slowly over several days or weeks. Bad idea to go out first day your E90 is broken in and crank it up to 160mph. Know the road well; avoid the temptation to race on unfamiliar territory. I think it was thavash that suggested going over the stretch first to check for speed traps, dangers, traffic flow, etc., before giving it the go. The E90 instills confidence at speed: it is quiet, steady, and capable. That said, things happen quickly at speed, and you need to get used to it or you can kill or be killed. These cautions are perhaps especially relevant for USA drivers that do not regularly drive at speed, and if you are driving on USA roads, you are dealing with other drivers that often do not know how to respond to your speed. Even on euro delivery it is worthwhile to take it easy, especially if you have been enjoying the dark beer etc. that might otherwise loosen your inhibitions to fly.
BMWCCA and other 'Driver's ed' courses that teach driving/racing skills are a great idea too. |
