Article is absolutely accurate and what I tell anyone that asks me about my 1M....
1M steering is just much, much, much better than anything provided on newer Mcars. There is also a noticeable feel in the smaller overall size and weight of the 1M. Those factors make a huge difference in my enjoyment of the car. In addition; less nannies, no rev-matching, almost unpredictable torque/traction, classic gauges, manual only, no frills, thrill machine |

They are both special cars, in different ways, with the 1M being arguably one of the greatest M cars of the second decade of this century (if not all time). They have elegant power that's very different than the more brutal power of the present M cars. As the first generation M2 goes out production, despite its numb steering, it seems unlikely that BMW will be able to recreate the driving experience associated with these two cars.

I am considering an M2CS....but I don't think it could replace the 1M. I have to figure out if I have room for two.
