Yes, 7mm, but it's equivalent to a 14mm in 35mm ("full frame") format. Still a crazy wide 114° FOV for a rectilinear lens.

Ah, got it. What camera are you shooting with? My 2 shots above were shot with my new (to me) D800E. The first shot used a weird lens, a 135 f/2 with defocus control, and the second is a more conventional 50 f/1.4.

That 135 looks awesome, nice piece of kit. I still need a 50mm equivalent, but it's about 1 or 2 more lenses away. I have something close, but it's only a so-so lens. I'm holding out for the M.Zuiko 25mm f1.2 Pro.

A smaller body sounds nice. My D800 is heavy. I find myself using my iPhone quite a bit. I think the phone and DSLR cover all my needs though. The D800 is 36mp which is, frankly, too much. My computer struggles sometimes especially with mutiple layers in Photoshop. I’ve found that 12-16mp is the sweet spot. Enough to make huge, sharp prints but file sizes are still manageable.
The 135 is an okay lens, but old. It has a bokeh control ring which rotates one of the elements in the lens. I find it gimmicky and it compromises sharpness. I never use that feature. Nikon has a really nice 105 f/1.4 that I’d like to buy to replace my 135 but the $2,200 price tag is tough to justify. Congrats again on the new lens - looking forward to some more shots of your car! |
