I've seen meticulous people corner balance by dropping 25-75lbs spring rate in specific corners. There's different methodologies to do it.

Well, throughout this build I've said "no turning back now" multiple times, but this time, I think I finally mean it...

Pass quarter is off, the drivers side will be off today and hopefully the 1M quarters will be on by the end of the week. Need to get going on extending the wheel housings.

The roof should be arriving this week too. Still waiting on the roof cross support and the headliner.

I've got lots of stuff to sell... stock bumpers, front fenders, side skirts, hood. OEM Anthracite sunroof headliner, with the sunroof glass and slider too if anyone needs. Selling my custom roll bar as well. PM me if you're interested in any of this stuff.

More updates soon.

More progress today. I pulled the front bumper off to clean up the bottom and mount the new lip. I didn't want to get a lip, but the gaps in the bottom of the bumper would make the splitter less effective and I didn't want to do a ghetto fill-in, so I went this route. Picked up my new splitter from APR, it's a work of art. Mocked it up just to see how it looked and it's pretty aggressive!

Ordered some chassis mount brackets from HARD Motorsport which I'll pair with the included APR support rods on the front end from the crash beam, which together, should provide enough support and make for easy removal.

Today was an awesome day... We got the passengers side rear quarter mocked up. Tomorrow we'll pull the drivers quarter off and begin extending the inner wheel housings. If all works out, the quarters will be on by the weekend.

^^^That's a 9.5 +48 with a very wide 275/35 on it. Plenty of room to work with on the new quarters. Can't wait.

Roof arrives from IND on Friday. Front glass was pulled today too. Picked up my headliner from BMW. Next week and the following, it'll be paint and reassembly. No chance in hell I'm making Round 2 of Bimmer Challenge at Buttonwillow on March 2nd, but I'll keep trying.

Geez! This will be the prettiest car on track. Stoked to see the final product!

Are you going to run 285 square tires? Also, new weld-in cage setup?

It'll be the prettiest for at least one session. I'm sure I'll regret making it so nice haha.

Nope, not doing a full cage... yet. I want to keep the streetability of this for a while still, as I don't have a trailer and I like driving to close events with occasional trips to the canyons. Splitter needs to have a quick release for this reason!

Cage - 1) I'd like to build a more simple one out of 1.5" chrome-moly to shave weight. Current bar weighs 73lbs, which isn't terrible, but I think I can build another closer to 45-50.
2) I believe now that without a sunroof and sunroof headliner, the current bar will sit too far below the roof line. Don't think it's going to look right. My loss is whoever's gain on this one as the current piece was pricey and it's awesome. Fits SO well. Couldn't believe I was able to get it out of the car.

Hopefully see you out there sometime soon.

Definitely, I've been swamped with work and haven't hit the track much recently but I'm hoping to get a few rainy track days in before winter. They're the best!

Hit me up when you know your track schedule.

You are "pot committed" as they say! Definitely no turning back now. That front splitter is amazing, hope it survives the street!!!

-Front aero

Just remember that the additional air weight at speed is all relying on the plastic radiator support to not flex.

This thing looks like it belongs in the fast and furious. Can we please get full racecar? You can drive your cage on the street you know. It's just like being back in the '50s.

I'm not mounting the splitter to the bumper or the plastic rad support. I'll be running metal chassis mounts that attach to the front of the frame rail, as well as additional side brackets and front tension rods that'll mount to the crash bar. All metal and frame mountain points. Splitter will stay on when the bumper comes off.

Berns!! I just wanna say Thank You for making all these posts. This one tread has been a great little reference guide for me, I'm on page 10, I just got a 1M front kit and some new rims to run a 275 square set up on my 1er..

Im looking at getting the Raze front splitter so I can use the front brake duct kit did you ever use a brake duck kit for the front?

Now you got me thinking of whats better front downforce or brake cooling... I'm thinking brake cooling for me because I'm a noob lol

Not sure this thing will ever be done, but got some more work done today. Pass side quarter is mounted and spot welded. Still needs to be cleaned up and finished.

I drilled out all the spot welds on the roof and it's ready to be separated from the body. First time doing anything like this. I wouldn't call it fun, but it was kind of therapeutic. The roof was delivered from iND but I didn't want to take it out and get it all dusty, so it'll stay in the box till it's ready to go on.

I'm rolling around on some 17s right now and I can't believe how cool they look. Kind of love the look of the car all fucked up and doomsday right now, but I'm excited to see it completed.

I start a big project tomorrow and won't be done till mid-March, so I'll go back down and see where the car is at around then. Hopefully be back in my garage by April!

Love the meaty look with the 17s! Are you think on going what a completely new wheel setup to fit the 1M fenders?

Yeah I have two different sets of wheels in mind. I'll wait to reveal the first one once the car is complete.

The other set is being built still, not sure when they'll be ready, but should be cool!

Both will be 18s. 18x9.5 +22 square and the other is 18x10 +19 sqaure.

The trackspec vents look great ! A word of advice- you need to add/make gurney flaps for them to be most effective. Love this build!!

Getting closer! Quarters are complete, paint is done. Roof is set and on. Glass and headliner went in last night. Wednesday I'll hopefully get the interior back together and I think the rear bumper and skirts should be out of paint.

So, so excited to finish this thing. Have to travel this week but it should be back on the road next week and then it's time for some major maintenance, and maybe a track day on the 21st...
