Nice photos of the car ! Loving the wing. Makes the rear end so aggressive. Can't wait to start my 1m clone project & I'll be def. getting me the same wing as yours.

Thanks!
I'll have to wait until I get a MUCH needed alignment, but I think I may have miscalculated the width and offset for the custom 3-piece CCW Classic wheels for the rear. Given the custom fab work that the shop performed since I didn't do the 1M rear subframe conversion, from these angles it looks like I could have gone even wider. I have 295/30/18 R888's on there now, but it looks like there is room for 305's if not 315's! ??? |

Thanks. Yeah, I've had CCW Classic wheels before. Great 3-piece wheel when you need custom offsets. Strong with reasonable weight - race proven. They have gone up a lot in price since I last ordered, so that sucks, but is what it is. My only gripe is that CCW has not spent the money to make the center mesh larger to support 19" and 20" diameters, so the CCW Classic in that respect is showing its age and falling behind the times IMO.

First of all, I am not photographer. I think the shadows make it look worse than it is in real life. However, that being said, I think several reasons:
The car has been unweighted for a very long time over the past year and the suspension needs to settle; either on its own over time or as a result of a good shakedown once I can finally drive it. The car is significantly lighter now (or at least on paper), shaved weight on exhaust, seats (read seat delete, front track seats that only weight ~15lbs each including rails and sliders), sunroof delete, sheet metal roof delete and replaced with CF roof that only weighs couple pounds, etc.). I may need to get coilovers, corner balance the car and dial in the ride height. The car seriously need an alignment. After I get an alignment the rear may need spacers as we may have miscalculated the rear width and offset to maximize the tire because we could not fully weigh the car when we measured (car was up on the jig totally gutted with the roof cut away, stripped interior, etc. and we used a jack to compress the rear suspension to try to make measurements. Plus the custom fab work that was performed in there since I did not perform the 1M rear subframe swap. With all that in mind, I currently have an 18x10.5 wheels back there running 295/30/18 tires, but it looks like I could fit an 18x11 wheels and run 315/30/18 R888's back there. After I get all the remaining punch-list items checked off and can drive it; once I use up the rears then I'll take more measurements and see what I can do. But having not driven my car for over a year now, this year I just want to enjoy it and these items will have to wait until next winter. Perhaps the R888's have a more rounded shoulder; although, you would think that for a street legal track tire that they would have a squared-off shoulder to maximize the contact patch.??? So the exact reasons I do not know as of today, but all things in time. It's the journey, not the destination. |

If you look at stock 1m you see they have a larger gap in front compared to back. Otherwise you get a raked look. Also 1m runs bigger tires that fill out the wheel well more. Stock they run a 19" wheel with a 35 profile. Looks like op is on 18" with a 30 profile.

Yeah, after I typed all that I remembered that 19" wheels are stock for a 1M. I'm running 35 profile front and 30 profile rear. I do like the 19" APEX PS-7's I purchased when I had them on the 1, but they don't fit the rears since I did not perform the 1M rear subframe swap. You cannot get CCW Classic 3-piece wheels in anything larger than 18" unfortunately, and HRE quoted me like $5000 a wheel for their offerings (and that didn't even include tires or TPMS). YIKES!
So haters or "arm-chair" critics are going to just have to deal. The car is still a work in progress and expensive enough just to get it to this point. Like I said before, it is a long-term love affair and all things in time. |

If anybody can recommend 19" 3-piece wheels that I can specify a custom offset that are similar to the CCW Classic or APEX PS-7 (that are more economical than HRE or FISKE) please let me know. Maybe next year I'd be able to do it and these 18" CCWs would just be come my track wheels then?

And thanks to all for the Props! It has been a year plus long journey to get it this far plus a 6+ year overall journey since I have been modding it since I bought it new in '09. There is still more work that needs to get done (thrown codes addressed, boost controller issues to fix, more dyno tuning and a few more items if I gave it some thought); it has felt at times like trying to move mountains, but I'm getting there. We all have to do what we must and leave our own two burnout marks on the blacktop. To me it is a way of life...

There's a rear hub conversion kit on ECS that runs around 500 and nets you -10 mm on each side. Bc forged also make very nice wheels with custom offsets for less then 5k a set. I've had 2 sets and they are grade A quality.

Thanks
BMW Performance suspension kit, but essentially yes. Once I get all this paid for then hopefully next year this time I'll upgrade suspension. There are a LOT of excellent options out there and given that some kits can get very expensive, I want to make sure I do my research. But again, all things in time. |
