How to: Evolution Racewerks Competition Oil Coolers Installation

Hey everyone,

We installed the Evolution Racewerks competition oil coolers on my N54 135i this weekend and as always, we recorded the installation process in case anyone else also wanted to DIY this process.

Overall, the install wasn't terrible with their included instructions although the estimated time in there said 1.5-2 hr install time. I could see that if you've done this a few times, but being our first, it took most of the day (5-6 hours or so). Also, if I did this again, i would order new orings for the factory oil cooler to AN adapter (the instructions tell you to reuse). I reused mine and no leaks but I'm doing my oil filter housing gaskets soon so I'll replace these orings as well during that project.

Only special tools you will need:
-Tamper torx bits (TT20 size)
-extra long 1/4" drill bit to drill out some rivets
-AN fitting wrench
