SOS: Airbag // Seatbelt light on
So yesterday I took out my passenger seat because it had a tear in the stitching and dropped it off to be repaired. Put it back in my car and plugged everything up only to realize my instrument cluster looks like a Christmas tree lol.
I just read somewhere it could be because I had it unplugged and was driving around with the seat out. What do I do?? Any help is really appreciated! :] Niko 818.645.2400 |

For taking the seat in and out, just clear the codes with INPA software.
For the seat change there should be two connectors under the seat, a larger rectangular yellow one and a small round white one. Take a look where the white one leads to, the headrest or seat rail. Use whatever your car had originally. Clear codes. |

I mounted a phone mount under one of the bolts for the passenger seat. I didn't like it and took it off and now I have the same problem sometimes it goes off by itself, but when someone sits on the passenger seat and move it comes back on.
Help! |

The sensor stating if someone is sitting in the seat or not..
Even if someone is sitting in the seat with their seatbelt on I still get this light on the dash... |

I have the same light. It's the occupancy seat MAT sensor. It's a sensor which lies on the bottom of the seat cushion. Upholstery work is involved when replacing the sensor. There are aftermarket bypass systems but that seems a little too risky, in my opinion. The sensor does work intermittently if the passengers weighs a certain weight and sits at the right spot on the cushion. lol BMW has done several recalls for this specific sensor but non of the recalls apply to the 1 series. I think it's total BS. The dealer quoted $1300 for the replacement. I am curious as to whether a strongly worded complaint to BMW citing safety reasons and previous recalls for the same part will do any good. Let me know if you find another fix. |

Ive been told you can code it out using INPA! Im going to go that route to be honest... Im not trying to spend $800 + on a sensor for a damn seat. Bummer part is that it only went off when I took my seat out last weekend to fix some of the stitching on my seat.
Or you can find a used seat in good condition and just swap the whole thing |
