I'm using Stinger VIP. I believe it has only arrived in US in 2015.

It's a patch antenna, with the option of adding laser detectors.

System is hardwired, and is GPS based for stationary cameras, and is useful for countries that has Spec detectors, where they take your average speed from A to B.

I'm still using mine in original spec from 1998, and have no complaints.

I realize the escort max 360 is ridiculously pricey but had some amazon credits to soften the pain. I have not had a detector since high school which was 1991. I avg about 1 ticket every 12-18 months and they usually get fixed which usually means i pay dbl the fine to reduce to non moving violation. Recently got a redlight camera ticket emailed to me from a rental car in Chi on a family vacation. Total racquet... I watched the actual video and this light stayed yellow for 2.1 seconds... $100 mailed to the fine city of chicago. This made me start looking at options. I dont speed a lot but have gotten a ticket for 39 in a 35 by my house. Cops are always around generating revenue. So this thing saved me twice in one week with a red light camera notification from the database and from a speedtrap. Actually 3 traps within a mile on a main drag near my house... Nice little reminder to stay in check. There are a lot of options but so far this detector is solid... Huge but solid.

I've always been partial to the valentine. I own both. I'd check it out too. The new one is out.

R u saying new Valentine 1 is out ?
I'm under the impression the "Introducing New V1" text on the Valentine web site is an ad pointing out that the V1 is a constant item not changing over the years except for incremental hardware updates. Hasn't there "Junk K" been included for a few years?

The latest upgrade I was waiting for after my earlier post.

On my old M cars I had the Passport 9500 and the GPS feature was great....but it wasn't working as well. I eventually sold it. I resisted getting the V1 because of all the false alerts. I only use it when I get on freeways and go on longer trips, never in the city or suburbs (cause I don't like to speed in those areas). I recently went on a trip where I did a lot of "mountain pass/road driving" and long freeway runs......the V1 found them all and warned me. Love it and highly recommend it.

Having said all that - try and take note of the kind of detectors being used in your area/state. This is important. "Always on" radar, laser, ka, K, X, etc.....I found that the Passport didn't work for me in CA as well, but my brother swears by it and he's based in New Jersey. Cops in CA primarily use laser and KA. The Valentine excels in CA and a lot of people on this forum use it (who are from CA). Oh and btw - NO annoying false alerts

Joke review. They dont talk about the bluetooth or gps for the valentine but they do for the 360. Instead they talk about how its black so you need to remove it in direct sunlight. Ehhhhh. Wrong answer. I live in Florida, never remove mine. Silly. Of course the site probably sells or is affiliated with one that sells radar detectors, and since they can't sell Valentine, they put it 4th after their top 3 that they carry. I've seen this repeatedly. Bogus.

Final word on RD
Valentine1 or Escort Max
Dont speed in urban areas (too populated & too many hidden cops)
Even on the highways many cops pop the radar only when they suspect so its hit or miss
then of course there are those undercovers in various makes hard to spot these days
so you could pay $500 for a detector and still get slapped with tickets not foolproof

Yes. Step one is RD. Two is waze or gps cop finding app. Three is laser jammers. This will get you out of 98% of your pullovers. You're still vulnerable to unmarked driving patrols, choppers, and a cop with instant on who just sets up.

Escort Max 360 (+ Wase if on interstate highway.)
Very accurate so far and keeps me out of trouble. Redline in second car. Redline is good but too many false alerts.

Went with the new Escort iX shortly after purchasing my M3.

On the phone the sales rep offered me 10% off or a ~$60 credit for mailing them my current (was a gift, $20 new) detector. She threw in free overnight shipping too. Ordered at 3-4pm and by 8am it was sitting on my porch.

Haven't used that Escort Live as it seems gimmicky, but it does detect a wide range and will store false bands after ~3 encounters which is nice for city. Mount is great. Wouldn't drive without it.

The current valentine uses an app and bluetooth to do the same gps false signal cancelling the max 360 has and it has better range.

The new Uniden R3 is supposed to be really good. They just came out, and are in scarce supply at the moment, so I'm still rocking my 9500ix.

Have you been watching that guy that sits in his Miata and discusses radar detectors? vortex radar or something. I'm thinking about the small Rodenso Pro but its a bit too pricy and for the Redenso money the Uniden R1 could be interesting.

He's one of them. There are several reviews on RDForum that show the R3 outranging the Radenso and the Redline.

^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^

I have the Stinger VIP as well and it has saved my ass at least a dozen times now. Not a single ticket since I got it.

I have the front and rear HD antennas and front and rear laser jammers. I have seen cops lasing me when I was speeding, the laser guard kicked in and voila.....no blue lights in my rear view.

The radar detector has a freakin unbelievable range, covers all bands and has a spectrum analyzer on the display if you want to switch to that and see multiple bands at once. It has a GPS "false list" that you edit with one touch of the display and it will eliminate only THAT SPECIFIC signal at THAT SPECIFIC location. Stinger also sends out a new redlight camera and fixed speed camera database upload every other month for all of North America or worldwide if you want that.
