That appears to be some pretty nasty road rash.

No touchup or spot repair type solution would look any good in my opinion.

You would need to visit a body shop and have the bumper repainted for best results. I am no paint expert, but if you wanted to attempt a DIY, there are plenty of youtube videos that can walk you through the process of prepping, filling, priming, and painting panels.

txs for reply Greg.
I'm going to try a few things , as it's low down,
I'm going to give it a try, even if I can "hide" it a bit better"

If you are going to see that type of damage again I'd seriously think about using some rock guard in black and making it super easy to fix.

I was thinking the same, no point in repairing for it to come back

actually it's now obvious from the video camera (as I saw through the zoom) that the clear coat was damaged
so no amount of buffing would help
but anyway

That is so weird it is on one side. You could try scuffing and shooting more clear over it. Maybe using a 2k clear? https://www.amazon.com/Spray-High-Gl.../dp/B0043B7UQY

Build up and sand, repeat? Worse case you get it resprayed professionally. Best case it is acceptable.

waiting for some free time,
but the more I look at it, more I feel that it's been hit with something.
For sure there is some paint chip damage,
but that kind of "spray" damage pattern, is very consistent IMHO
with a concentrated hit of something, the "dents/holes" a lot are very smooth, not jagged like you'd get with a chip.

I didn't really see it, until I had the camera zoom.

You can def. see different types of "damage" it's not consistent with stone chips.

There where "some" teething issues with this guy, and I kinda feel that one of his underlings fcuked up because they didn't do other things they where supposed to do.

But can I prove it ? And what are they going to do to fix it. More the question do I want them to and do I have the time to run around suing people.

I'll name and shame them on my youtube video, for what it's worth.
I'm going to hit up a very small area with clear, "just to see" if I can get away with hiding.

I'm loathe to go in with the wet and dry still.

I guess it wont hurt

Scuff and shoot. Lay coats as fast as instructions allow. Build up some clear to get film thickness and then and cut and polish.

What are you thinking you got hit with a needle scaler, gravel, birdshot????

so I wanted to PUP some 3m PPF before doing any work, how many people try to screw you over.

Googled up a couple of places near me, one guy said, you can only get a BIG roll and he could get it for the princely sum of $240
Then another shop, "who apparently valued my custom" enough not to get back to me for several days, had some small by the feet (7"x12") for about $15

I "THEN" found a really nice guy, 2 minute drive, a 3M installer, explained my situation and said
"Hey why don't I just give you some scrap that I have for you to try out" gave me 2 big 2ftx3ft squares for FREE, more than I need
So I bought a couple of things cos I felt a bit guilty
And I found out they also do some kits for the 1er, really cheap

The guy was so ice, just wanted to help, impart info, and wasn't bothered if I bought anything
Do this people really still exist... great customer service

I have the same pitting problem you do.. I personally believe its the road spray off transport trucks in the winter. I plan to respray before I put my car away for the winter this year and right when spring comes I will apply some 3M PPF.

You have to be careful applying PPF after a fresh respray because if you do it too soon the gases in the paint don't evaporate properly and you get pinholes in your paint(solvent popping)! It's best to let all of the gas evaporate before applying any vinyl on top! i know it varies from paint but i thinks its about 30-60 days for all of the solvents to dissipate.

I can't understand why that small area is really bad, the rest of the bumper
is pretty good

part 4,
now leaning that that side may have had a repair, for road rash, and the top coat was just a quick blow over. If you look carefully, at the road rash, some of it looks like its had some different shade of paint, the detailing picked it up more#or even they blew it with some gastly chemical

anyway, going to try a repaint in pt 5

So I can confirm that this part of the car was repaired or just sprayed over.
Hence what ever detailing spray killed it.
There was evidence of paint runs right at the bottom, which is def not factory.
Also when using "prep" solution, got some of the red of, again, no something that happens with factory.

SO, there is an extensive video to come, but check out the results from my repair, considering I used NO power tools
and only acrylic rattle can on my drive/garage, I'd say out of 100%, I'd give myself 95%

Still have to hit it with some rubbing compound to feather in the new paint.
