I should clarify: the 135i ducts weren't available. I'm going to do an air-oil cooler when I do the bumper, so I wanted the OE ducting. That specific duct is NLA for some reason, the others aren't.
Ah! I forgot what those parts were called, the one for the 135i. Coz if it’s just the BMWP grill and air duct plastic parts that normally came w the cover itself, then they’re available.

School me though, so the BMWP air ducting is basically useless and all for show? If that’s the case then the OE MSport 128i bumpers w the ducting is “better” since it least lets air flow into the wheel well, which I get is somewhat pointless anyway. Was hoping that the BMWP cover had more potential for real, functional brake ducting

Sure! So, for the 135i parts list, it includes brake ducts for each wheel (either side of the center lower grille). The M-Sport 128i bumper does not have brake ducts at all. The 135i parts also include a functional outer duct, on the right side, for an oil cooler, which also never came on the 128i. The left outer duct is blocked for both cars, but I'm thinking about doing a Dinan-style ram air intake with it.

This post has a good collection of pictures. The blue car (about halfway down) shows it really well. Most of the other cars don't have the brake ducts, or it isn't very visible.

Got it! I have that thread bookmarked for a while now, i wonder why🤷🏻*♂️

So, the ducts are on the lower centre grill, not the ones on the “fog light.” I’m asking coz I’m serious to go down this path. 💰💰💰 i believe I saw this setup on a 128i that does endurance racing a while back.

Will it be possible to hack up the normal BMWP grille to open up the sides of the centre grill though? Probably too much work. Better still to get the OE, but like you said, it’s rare now. PM me part numbers and links for those duct parts though if you don’t mind.

Yeah. The outer sections are either the false grille, or the oil cooler duct. The inner section consists of three parts, regardless of which car it's for. Two outer pieces, either block-offs or brake ducts, and one inner piece, which is the same for all cars. This makes more sense, and has all the part numbers.

I remember this brake “kit”being available as an add-on when you look at the BMWP bumper and choose a 135i as your vehicle. Can’t seem to find it anymore though, I think it was on ECS.

Looked it up on ebay (performance air cooling kit) and did find it for a reasonable price. Good tip!

Thanks much chris_flies

I found myself! (I'm the 1-series going sideways)

Attempted to do some exhaust work, but apparently N52 midpipes are smaller than N54/55 midpipes, so this won't be straightforward, like I had hoped. Also attempted to replace my rear upper shock mounts, but I couldn't for the life of me compress the Ohlins dampers enough to do so. Guess I'll have to do it another time...

Mate, I have to say you got skills on that skid pad. Impressive! And ofcourse, sweet ride you got there! Would look SO MUCH more aggressive once that new bumper is on

Chris,
That diff was totally worth it wasn't it. LOL
Just adds tons of control to the car.

My best control is with the ediff still on. But like I'd mentioned in some other thread, I'd found out mine was coded wrong. My wheel speed sensors where backwards, front was reading as back and that messed up how the ediff worked. I coded it back to the way it should be and thing was flawless then.

The diff was so worth it. Especially when I got the suspension properly sorted, the whole package was just perfect. And then the diff exploded...twice...in a month. Oh well, it'll be back better than ever sometime soon...

Honestly, the ediff was just as easy to control as the proper LSD on the skidpad, it was just harder to initiate the slide.

I do have an interesting perspective now, having gone back to an open diff. It turns in far more eagerly, but it doesn't power away like it used to. I want to go back

I got the M3 rack fully installed except stupid me only got one each of the crush washers for the hydraulic line banjo fittings instead of two each. I also got the CSF power steering cooler in with a little help from Mr. Mototool.

At the same time I installed the E60 oil-to-water heat exchanger as access to the hoses that needed to be swapped was much easier. Now I'm waiting on a 24mm crow's foot to properly torque the oil pressure sensor. The intake manifold interferes with all of the sockets I've tried to fit on the sensor.

Winter isn't coming here anytime soon I'll definitely be paying more attention to it once it does cool off here.

Got the intake off the Jimmy finally.
It's not a bad balance shaft bearing.

So I'll be buying a new engine. Seen that coming and was ready for it.

Turbo was supposed to show up late in the week.
It didn't.
So this 3-4 weeks will now be 6. And I always have to initiate conversation.

Sorry! Productive weekend meant the car is green free besides the handles. It started pouring right before I took those off

edit: apparently pictures aren't working this morning

Car is in the shop... "Engine Service Soon" light came on... And off... And on.

Maybe a coincidence, but the problem came up after I changed the oil and added a bottle of Techron to the tank.

Had a foggy passenger side mirror that was no longer auto-dimming. Found a used perfect one for $130 shipped. Took a minute to change.
