Over here we would make a insurance report to the police and then inform our insurance company that someone else drove into us, and they would make shure the other company pays.

You should contact your insurance company and file a claim as well. You can always cancel that claim, but if there is trouble with him changing his story or his insurance company at least you'll have a claim started.

I don't think the other guy's insurance will call your insurance. You did the right thing by claiming through his insurance saving your premium rates from going up possibly.

I would have called the cops though. Always good to have the police report.

You're relying on the trust and goodwill of someone you don't know. What if he decides to not call his insurance company? Did you get his name, drivers license, car make, model and state registration? You should report this incident to your insurance company within 24 hours. Your insurance company will definitely contact his, given that he seemed to be at fault.

What if the guy doesn't have insurance and is feeding you a line to placate you for now with intentions of later paying you out of his pocket? He then reneges and leaves you in the cold. Worse yet, what if he reports to the insurance company that you rear ended him?

That may be an issue but take it one step at a time.

Can you just report the damage to your insurance company so they have it on file? Then when all is settled, inform them that all is well.

Most important is that no one was physically injured. The damage can and will be fixed AND your car seems to be 100% driveable without inconvenience.

Let's say thanks to that.

All the best in sorting the problem pronto.

i think you should be ok as long as she claimed the accident herself. Keep in touch with her and make sure she claimed the responsibility. Your insurance company should take care of the rest..That's why we pay them for

Most of the time, cops won't show up at the parking accidents unless those are severe. You just settle with him in writing at the scene in which he accepts the fault. Otherwise, you have to call your insurance, and they will investigate for you to find out who's at fault.
