folding mirrors

Since I live in Chicago, I have to park on some very tight one way streets, so I added the premium pkg. w/ the folding power mirrors. The other day, I unlocked the car w/ the remote, and the mirrors unfolded by themselves. I was never able to replicate that again, and would like to. Does anybody know how, or is there a certain sequence that I have to push the interior button in, or have the switch turned to the drivers side mirror, or passenger side mirror, open the door first, etc.etc.

I think if you fold the mirrors by holding the lock button down (longer than just to lock the car), then when you un-lock the car they will automatically unfold.... I have CA, and if I touch the door "ridges" for longer than necessary to lock the car, the mirrors fold. Then when I grap the door handle to unlock, they unfold automatically. So I'm guessing about using the fob..

BTW did you check the manual. I do remember there being a section about the folding mirrors.

if yo uuse the actual key to lock your door and hold it a few seconds long the mirrors fold in and when you unlock it with the remote then it will unfold itself. under this scenario was the only time i could get the mirros to unfold with the remote...i dont have CA though...

Thanks for the posts guys, now when I want to impress the girls on that first date, I can have the mirrors unfold before she gets in the car and says, oh my god... Oh well, I'll just use my friggin key to lock the doors (how barbaric) when I have to. How shitty is that, spent over 40k on the car, and was too cheap to check that option...comfort access...the one option that I didn't get...go figure. Life always seems to work that way!

Should've checked with this board. It would have never dawned on me to get CA if I didn't read through a lot of posts here before ordering. Now, I just can't live without it. Thanks, all.

Funny, CA was the first thing I wanted when I saw it on the price list.

It's the folding mirrors that never dawned on me. I should have got them - they are cool and really help when parking in tight spaces - but until I'm ordering my next BM - I'll just have to fold them in by hand!

There are a few options that I'd like to have, but at this point it's a moot.

Should that happen in all models? I have premium package but no CA and I can sit there all day long holding down the lock button and they don't close up for me. Is this a setting that I can program (no iDrive)?

Until you order your next BMW. BMW, BMW, BMW. I just don't get ya'll in the UK, Oceania and S. Africa. A BM (trust me) is soooo different than a BMW. Until your next BMW!! Your next BM will probably be tomorrow morning :rocks:

When you lock the car use the key and turn it all the way to the right and hold it. The mirrors will fold, any windows that are down will come up. Turning the key the other way does the opposite and opens the sunroof. If you fold the mirrors with the key you can unfold them with the key fob.

So, I just ran out to the parking lot to try that on my 6/05 production 330i with PP. Of course, using the key works to fold the mirrors.

But what pisses me off is that it's not in the manual. I checked it again, now and it's just not there.

I wonder how many other secrets my E90 has.

wow, I did not remember reading this in the manual either. I will try it this afternoon when I get out of work. This anticipation is killing me.

The other thing that I found out on this forum was when you lock the car with the key fob, you cannot open the door from inside.

Aaah, thanks. I thought someone meant if you held down the lock on the fob it would do it.

I just checked my manual as well and the only thing I even see about the folding mirrors is the button indicating what it is. No explanation or anything.

Neither is a lot of stuff you'd like to know like a decent logic 7 eq setting, how to properly burn an MP3 DVD so you can have your entire collection on one disc and just stick it in the nav slot and get more than 8 characters on the names. Thats why this site is great
