What sounds better? Resonator delete vs PE mod

I have an N54 135i and was planning on getting an N55 midpipe. I want to do either a resonator delete or PE mod to give the exhaust some more character.
Not looking to make it super loud. I'm looking for a nicer growl/exhaust tone.

Thanks in advance!

You could always go and get catless DP's. I've gone down this route with a complete stock back end and it sounds quite nice. Plus it's one less thing you have to worry about if you plan on upping the power.

I haven't done the golf tee mod as i've heard it can cause drone at hwy speeds but if all your looking for is a nicer tone, maybe look in to getting the M performance exhaust as it sounds like pure sex!!!

damn, now you got me thinking cause the price of the catless dp's is about the same as either of those exhaust mods. I wanted to keep the car relatively stock, so I'd have to look into this and make sure theres no major risks

Do the PE mod. It's basically free and reversible if you don't like it.

You'll get more power, but keep in mind the emissions smell and emission testing issue (I don't know what that is like in Toronto.)

Are you referring to the golf tee mod? That I have already done, but the PE mod will cost me around 350-400 CAD

Theres no emissions test in toronto and if I get catless DP, i'll keep my n54 mid pipes with the 2nd cats
I was planning to only do stage 1 so I didnt want the catless dp to result in other stuff breaking or going wrong

No not the golf tee mod.
You can cut open the muffler with an angle grinder and weld everything yourself.

If you don't have a welder you can follow my guide and do it all on the cheap with aluminium foil and jb weld.
I have a welder now but the results from my diy on the cheap version was perfectly fine so I never went back to welding it.

PE mod + res delete + catless DPs + vibrant bottle resonators in place of the secondaries.

Chadillac has his old mids for sale I believe.

I'm running VRSF DPs with stock exhaust and love the sound I'm getting from it. You do get a lot more smell from the exhaust but the sound, throttle response, and added power are well worth it.

As the pioneer of the "PE mod" on these cars, I vote catless downpipes, N55 midpipe with resonator intact, and an N55 catback. The muffler looks the same, but the N55 version has less sound-deadening qualities.
