More misfire with colder plugs?

I was having some misfires so I switched plugs to NGK 95770 1 step colder gapped 0.022 and torqued to 17 ft lbs. Misfires improved briefly and now they are even worse to the point that if I WOT I get thrown into limp mode for a misfire on cylinder 6 and the engine continues to misfire until I turn the car off then back on.

Anybody have similar experience with colder plugs? Should I switch back to stock OEM plugs? I'm currently MHD stage 2; I don't track the car.

Are you certain that there is not an underlying pathology that is not related to the plugs that could be causing your misfire?

Keep in mind there are several factors that could be in play here as the cause, not the least of which are coil(s) and/or injector(s). Good luck.

Can I run 1 stock plug and the rest 1 step colder at the same time? I just want to switch cylinder 6 out with a stock plug and see what happens.

I doubt its the plugs, misfires are almost always coils or injectors. Do you have any logs?

Side Note - Ive run stock plugs for 3+ years on a pretty aggressive ethanol tune without issue.

Hmm OK so the "colder" plugs aren't really necessary then? I have old logs, currently not able to log as I go into limp mode from misfire on cylinder 6 at 5k rpm. I suppose I can throw a new coil on 6

I wouldn't recommend it - just buy a set on FCP Euro.
They are pretty cheap.

Run them for a bit. If the misfire comes back switch coil #6 with a different one. If the misfire happens to come back in the cylinder where you placed coil #6 it's a bad coil.

Also, check if the plug is fouled.

From my experience colder plugs are never necessary on stock turbos
