2008 135i CCC to CIC conversion
I'm looking to compile a list of parts needed to convert a 2008 135i with iDrive and all supported features (telematics, bluetooth, Sirius, usb/aux, etc.) from CCC to the newer CIC.
If anyone has a comprehensive list of parts, numbers and coding needed to keep the same functionality but have the newer system that would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Have you looked at this thread?
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1273385 While it's not a conversion from CCC to CIC, it does give all the parts for the CIC system. You should be able to figure out what you do and don't need since the OP in that thread had to add in everything because he was starting off with a non-Idrive system. |

I looked at that one, but Im not too sure if I can actually reuse anything from the OEM CCC system or if I have to actually order 100% all new parts like the modules and harnesses, or are they the same regardless. |

CIC nav unit - the main unit
CIC screen - 8.8 inch CIC monitor, has a signal cable and power cable CIC screen cable - signal cable CIC screen power plug - you unpin the power plug from the CCC power plug and put the pins in the new plug CIC centre console trim plastic for controller - don't need a new centre console CIC controller - the thing with the knob and buttons CIC emulator harness - makes the navigation work, as a 2nd hand unit will be activated for the vin of the car it originally came out of

Thank you for the information! Is there a way to get the features working without an emulator? I read something about an OEM activation method, but does it work, etc? |

There's a thing called a 'repair FSC code' that covers voice command and navigation features. If this code is invalid then the features don't work. These cannot be entered in with any of the user menus and must be uploaded via an ICOM cable ($300) and a software called FSTool. Then you'd need the FSC codes and theres no software out there on the internet that can generate them, unlike the navigation map codes. Would need to get them from the dealer. On top of that you'd need to write your vin to the CIC unit as well, with a high chance of bricking it if you get it wrong or update the units in the wrong order. Wayy to much hassle, just get an emulator which fools the CIC unit into thinking its installed in the original car.
