2004 120D E87 Oil leak help

Hi

New at the forum here so thank for the help in advance.

I have a 120D 2004 E87.

Got the low oil warning, when I got the cover out I found this. (photo attached) there is a puddle of oil.

Any ideas ?? The oil cap was replaced but does the same. Seems like when driving at low RPM nothing happens but not when driving at high RPM.

Try posting this in the Regional Europe section. North America never got the 120d engine.

I have similar problem on N54 engine (2008 135i). Obviously engine looks different than yours. I cannot find the root cause of the leak on mine. I replaced the valve cover and the valve cover gasket (twice) with no luck. The PCV valve hose was cracked so I replaced too but same. I'm out of ideas.

Try a genuine cap?
It's difficult to tell where the oil is coming from. You may need to clean it thoroughly then recheck it after every drive to get a better idea
