Dumbest thing you've done to your car???
First I wanna share my story... Then see if anyone has anything similar!
In the middle of week 2 of detailing my 135i. I got a little polish on my windshield wipers while doing the hood... NBD. I've taken wipers off of my cars dozens of times including my 135i. I always lay a roll tape down under the end of the arm so if it snaps down it won't damage the windshield. I am working in the dark as our power is out due to a storm and I didn't feel like searching in the dim light for my tape. The ONE time I don't put the tape down.... As I started to position the wiper blade into place it hit the arm just long enough to send it flying into the windshield. Hard enough to crack the crap out of it. Now I need a new one!! FML!!!!! Who else has done something similar??? Chris |

I was parking in a small space with a high curb/barrier/carstopper thing at the end of the space, as I was saying to myself "there's no way I'll clear that, make sure to stop short" I don't stop short and grind up on it....scrapes all over the underside of my front bumper. It happens when you park, and it's not visible unless you look under the car, but damn I felt stupid after it happened.
Oh and when I first got the car, it took me about 5 minutes of baffled searching to realize that there is no fuel filler cap release button on the inside...Ouch.

Pretty much the same thing. 3 days into ownership I pull into the usual spot at the gym totally forgetting how low the front lip is.
I bring someone out to see the car and I hear "uh-oh" as she points to the bottom of the lip smushed up against the parking barrier. I took it to my body shop guy who spent about an hour patiently smoothing out the damage and repainting. Since that episode I've had the front end and the hood XPELed, so I'll be damn sure not to be that stupid again. Hopefully! |

Buying an intercooler when I'm already running Meth on my N55.
Now it is sitting in my garage unopened and still in the original box. |

Coming from 6 speed MT Audi, it took me close to 10 minutes to find reverse in my new BMW.
I sat in the dealer parking lot for so long with some sales guys looking at me as I am just clueless how to get it in R. Who knew that it took like 15 pounds of force to get it to go further left, in my audi you just pressed down and left.

I sometimes use a powerwasher to wash the car and for some reason the nozzle was removed this one particular time. I put the nozzle back on, pointed it at the car, and hit the water. The fucking metal thing shot off and hit my plastic bumper at full force putting a nice circular nick in it. I guess it didn't lock in all the way and like a dummy I tested it by aiming it at the car. Just really lucky I didn't hit a metal panel or the headlight. That's my dumbest.

Working on coding the car as instructed with the ignition on....would have been smart to turn the automatic headlights off though. Did not start this morning and lost some settings, duh

Getting caught in a freak snow storm with summer tires on in Germany. The car was stuck on base for a week.
I did something worse with my previous car. I clipped the brick pillar at the end of my driveway with the passenger-side rear door of my Subaru. The result was a nasty scrape about 6 inches wide and 2-3 feet long. I was so angry with myself that I didn't even look at the car for 2 days. I couldn't believe it. |

You're nucking futs. I can't stand this type of heat. Go outside to water a Fern plant and I drip sweat in a matter of 10 seconds

I learned how to park in one of those "inlet" style parking spots where its a bump in the curb for a single car. Learned how to do it in the 1er, ruined a set of forgestars in the process

This stupidity on my part does not concern my new 135i, rather if concerns my previous X3 35i and occurred less than one year ago.
I was reversing out of a curved driveway which had two gate posts and a fairly narrow gate opening. I was using my mirrors for direction, and relying on my PDC warning system, I was also reversing too rapidly. Yep, the PDC went off, and then I crunched the rear corner of the X3 into one of the gate posts. Total stupidity on my part. Cost me $1300 as I did not claim it on insurance.
