Can we talk brake pads?
I am not ready to step up to a big brake kit, but am in need of some pads. Is there anything out there that will give me better performance than the stock pads with less dust? These are probably the most dusty brakes I've ever had on a car....

I have been happy with PFC street performance pads. I only have them on the front, and the fronts are now less dusty than the rear which still have stock pads and were usually much cleaner than the fronts. Stopping performance is about the same.

That sounds promising... thanks for the response. Anyone else with a more performance orientated option have an opinion?

If it's just street, Akebono ceramics are felt to stop fine (no worse than OEM, at least) with a noticeable reduction in dust based on the collective experience of the E9x M3 crew. My experience with PFC Z-rated was ok - they stopped fine (on street) but I wasn't in love with initial bite. Other potential options to look into would be Stoptech street pads or potentially Ferodo DS2500. I think it's safe to say, though, that a more aggressive pad that dusts less does not exist.

I run these with virtually no dust and bite is same as stock I feel.

On the street I have been happy with the PFC Z-rated pads, but they were a disappointment at autocross. Initial bite was weak, needed a lot of pedal pressure to slow the car. I swap pads for the track, but prefer to just "show up and drive" with the car when I do autocross. How are the stoptech street performance pads for that?

Has anyone tried StopTech® Sport Brake Pads?
I am looking for 50/50 Track day sprints/ Hill Climb & some street, so they need to work well from cold. Hopefully increased initial braking and reduced dust. Any suggestions of what is available in Australia? |

Stoptech Sport is a sport street pad. It will likely not survive any type of track events. For your usage you will want a race pad like the Pagid RS29 or Hawk DTC series since little street duty will be seen.
