ThatOneKid's built thread

Well. I'm not exactly one to post about my own car that much, but I'm kinda proud of where I got it to. Theres only a couple more things I want to update before I call it "done"

I know, another wide body one series... how original...

Been several years in the making. Just finished the widebody on it today. This is my absolute first venture into doing anything on a car body-work related, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I don't know if I'm in love with the front. I may swap over to a 1M front at some point but will rock this for now. I'm definitely open to suggestions though if anybody has any.

I've got some CCW d240's on order and will run a 285-30-18 Toyo proxes r888r square tire setup when they arrive, though may switch to a full slick setup at some point; till then the car will be on spaced out VMR's. Which are nice to keep as I'll be able to have street tires on them, and not run though though my sticky tires in the meantime.

Mods are as follows:

Full Bolt On (obviously)
Straight piped exhaust
MMP turbo inlets
MMP turbo outlets
Pure stage 2 tubos
Precision Racewerks modular fuel pump
No port injection or boosted HPFP yet... Think I'm gonna go single barrel VTT
Spec stage III clutch

All M3 Suspension bits
AST 5200 Coilovers
Vorshlag camber plates
Quaife LSD with 3.46 gear ratio
Roll cage, currently half cage, though I have all the tubing for my full cage, just need to get around to bending it and fabbing it together.
Fully stripped interior

Recaro Profi SPA
Schroth harness
CAE Ultra shifter
APR GTC 200 wing
Kerscher Splitter
BMS cowl filters

"Custom" (if you can call it that haha) Rocket Bunny Kit

I want a carbon roof, hood, and trunk to cut a lot of weight, but damn are they expensive. Hopefully those are next though.

Open to suggestions on what to do next. This is NOT one of those build threads where I immediately turn around and post it for sale. Everything I've done to this car is so that I can go faster at the track, my real plan is to just keep having fun trying to go faster, and become a better driver, but I enjoy turning wrenches, so I'm always looking for the next part of the build.

And no, I don't have much interest in doing a v8 or v10 swap.

Anyways nobody cares about that stuff. Here are some pictures I took today:

Pretty unique setup, are you building it just for track use? Can you post some pics of the interior? I have a serious fetish for some cleaned-out interiors hahaha.

I don't hate the front, but I'm personally not a huge fan. If I were you I'd do the 1M front for sure and just wrap the rest of the rocketbunny kit in white to match. It would look absolutely sick like that.

I've also seen some pretty amazing bolt-on widebody 1's out there, jackp0t's build is always the first to come to mind. His build and IG are definitely something to check out if this is the route you're going. www.instagram.com/jackp0t__/

Good luck with the build man!

Ya I'll get some interior (or lack there of haha) pics up soon.

Like I said I'm not a huge fan of the front, but we'll see for now it serves its purpose pretty well . This is a pretty much 100 percent track car. I think I've driven it on the road like once in the last year, and even trailer it from home to the track.

I'd add an oil pan baffle to the list whenever you get a chance; you're starting to get to that territory where it is needed (basically slicks/huge tires).

Looking good man!

What rocket bunny kit is that? With a fender spat out front, it would look pretty good (and be functional).

Ya thats a good idea thanks for the advice. In addition, I've also been considering going to the full ER race cooler setup. I actually haven't had any heat troubles yet, but best to just make sure I won't ever have them as I don't really want to buy a new motor haha.

Its a 240sx kit that I've cut up substantially. Also what do you mean by functionality? From an aero perspective?

For the kit I've been thinking of where I cut the fronts to put a couple canards, but I'm not sure how I'd get them to fit. Could look good though...

Yeah. From an aero perspective.

Do you think that the tires create that much turbulence that it would be worth figuring out a more wrap around solution? Or do you think that the extra downforce from canards in front of them would be beneficial?

I'm not sure on either. I did think about the decreased aero efficiency that is inherent to a more open wheel, but thought it would be negligible on this car. I could definitely be wrong though.

Agreed there. If you haven't thought about it yet a CSF radiator could be in order as well if you start really piling on the boost....but it isn't a problem until it's a problem know what I meaaaaan?

No doubt you could benefit from sealing off the area in front of the tire either by canards or a fender extension. Depends on how far you plan on taking aero modifications.

Wheel wells do create a lot of messy air. My vote would be cleaner aero or aggressive canards.

Any more pics/updates on this car? I love the purpose built "trackiness" of it

Sick build man. Also interested on seeing how empty she is inside lol. Did you buy the 240 fenders locally or could you share cost and source?

thanks!
