???? The rain sensors are built into the windshield, and are independant entirely from the light switch. The Euro light switch allows the functioning of the rear fog lights, two extra lights that only usually light up under hard braking. Two different systems.

my car does have rain sensors, option code 521 and it's a base model which means we all have them so I am thinking he's accounted for that and thus this is the rain sensing model?

The one I sell works with or without rain sensors.

Thanks, Andy! Just ordered a rear switch for my 135i, can't wait to pop it in. I did the retrofit on my E39 M5, talk about a royal PITA (two full days of work between modifying the housing, wiring from trunk to cabin, going behind dash to access light control unit, snaking wires to feed the new switch, etc. etc.) Glad this is an easy pop-in appllication.

BTW, does it matter if I get the 128i switch that has the front fog light button as well? Should I decide one day to retrofit fronts, it may make sense to have it just in case...

I hooked the 128 one up to my 135 and it worked fine, it will light up the front fog indicator in the cluster. A few people with 135s bought the 128 switch to have the extra button and I have not heard of any issues from them.

Good to know, thx.

I just placed an order through your website, Andy. I specified 135i switch. Do you mind putting the 128i instead? Would be good to have it as a just-in-case should I decide to do front fogs one day (I imagine the fog indicator in the cluster you mention of will light up only once I hook it up to an actual fog light assembly, right? Or does it illuminate if I were to press the button, even though I don't have front fogs?)

It illuminates when you press the button, no front fogs needed.

I replied to your email.

Officially the first (mini) mod on the 135i, thumbs up to Andy and LeatherZ for the prompt shipping and great write-up. A 15 min job very much worth the $60 IMO! Thx again!

Andy, considering that the fog light indicator lights up on the 135i, do you know if fogs are able to be added to the stock system on the 135i? A bunch of us are wondering that and you'd sell a LOT of switches if we could figure it out

I do not know if there is a wiring harness down by the bumper for plug and play fogs. You would need to pull the bumper off to find off. If there is not, then you would need to see if wiring needs to be added and whether or not it runs up to the switch or ties off of the switch.

Awesome mod, just wondering for Canadian version, I am assuming it still works but I would like a confirmation. I have a 128i, and if it is no difference I'll be ordering one ASAP.

Yep, it will work on Canadian cars.

No problem at all. The 4 clips that hold the switch in place can be tricky, the biggest thing is to make sure they fully ‘click’ when you install the new switch. If they don’t, the switch will push back when you press the button, turn the knob.

A couple of yrs ago I bought (from Bavarian Auto) a set of plastic trim removal tools for $20. Just like the ones pictured in this link, just mine are blue. They come in very handy in all sorths of applications, I used them for the fog switch and most recently the kidney grill removal!

Andy, those gauges look great, keep us abreast of their release date!

BMW has a new pricing scheme. Always check prices before you buy any BMW part from now on.
