Question Euro Delivery Plant Tour

I am planning to take a plant tour when I take delivery in Munich next month. Who has been on the plant tour and knows how long it takes?

I didn't get a chance to go when I did my pick up - it was on a Saturday. But, most folks in the bimmerfest forum report about two hours.

The official brochure (http://www.bmw-werk-muenchen.de/lowb...wf_english.pdf) lists it as 2.5 hrs max.

You should make sure it is open during your pickup though - the schedule has changed a lot throughout the year because of the economic situation...

It is definitely worth the 2.5 hours. It is amazing what they achieve inside those factory walls. We were a bit jet lagged, and the inside of the factory is a warm...very hard to stay awake...even when dodging sparks from the welding robots!

Don't miss it!

It is 2 1/2 hours long, but well worth it. The only thing is, by the time you're done with it, you'll want to sit for a while. I suggest going to one of the Welt's cafes or restaurants after, to rest your feet.

Very cool tour though, the robots alone make it fascinating.

I was so disappointed to miss the tour last Thursday. I arrived at 2pm and the last tour was at 1pm (ended early becasue of Easter weekend). I was thinking "I flew all the way from the US to pick up my car and no one can take us through the factory real quick?" We did do the museum. That was very cool!!

Cool, I will plan on it,

I wonder how I can confirm it is available when I arrive. Maybe I can shoot an e-mail to the Euro Delivery team.

Thanks everyone.

Plan on spending close to all day at the Welt. The factory tour as well as the museum tour are "must see". Between tours and your pickup time you can relax in the lounge and/or have lunch in the restaurant.

It's a fairly lengthy tour but I recommend every bit of it. Seeing the machinery and process behind these cars is absolutely worth it.

There is only one English language tour per day. I think at 11:30AM.

Do you have to pay for the tour? It indicated prices on that linked brochure.

Typically you do but we got a free tour for doing the Euro Delivery at the Welt. Ask your rep at the Welt, they are very accommodating about free tickets to the factory.

If you go to Leipzig, you can schedule an English tour for €80.

Sure, it's pricey, but it lasted nearly 4 hours for me, and I was the only one on the tour, so we got to see exactly what I wanted.

Apparently they don't do routine English tours in Leipzig cause most English speakers just go through Munich....

Just another option!
