<3 The 135i brakes

Upon leaving my house for a nice, quiet drive on some twisty roads on a local road my phone ran out of batteries. So I switched to the radio and was flipping stations when without any kind of advanced warning there were 2 ambulances and a fire truck blocking the road on my side around a bend. I had just enough time to react and successfully stop behind the car in front of me(I had at most a few feet from the car in front of me when I was fully stopped.)... There was no indication by lights or sounds of an upcoming incident.

I am a bit irritated that there was no advanced warning by the local PD. But whatever, not a scratch on my 1er

Awesome! I love the size of these brakes! The stock pads don't stand up to repeated abuse like at a track, and they dust like crazy, but they're amazing at situations like this. 6 piston brembos

I've already had three situations over 4 years where idiot NJ drivers have cut me off and if I had been driving any other car I would have tapped them at best, caused a huge accident at worst.

No kidding, good on you that you were paying attention unlike so many per-occupied drivers I see on the roads. Guess that's why it's even more important to have dependable equipment. I'm still trying to get used to these brakes as I've only put 400 miles on the car but the difference is incredible and one of the most noticeable attributes of the car thus far. It definitely takes some getting used to.

The Brembos work very well obviously for a panic stop here or there but where they really shine and separate themselves from lesser brakes is during repeated hard stops right after one another. The resistance to fade is much better.

They have saved me from stupidity of other drivers quite a few times. And from my own stupidity once in a while lol.

They bring you to a stop in a hurry, that's for sure. Very strong brakes for a stock offering.

The stock brakes on the 135 come with six piston Brembos? holy shit!

Anyone else have a brake squeal problem? I have plenty of meat left on my stock pads and rotors, but they squeak like hell. Dealer won't fix it... Said they "cleaned" them up during last service. But yeah definitely awesome brakes though

Mine started squealing when the pads were half way worn out/thru. Then they really started to make noise! You can also noticed less pad "bite" once they start squealing like that.

Only real 'fix" is to replace the pads and rotors(& wear sensor(s)).

Brembo badged larger factory brakes, not a Brembo BBK.

If you guys want a really hard stop, upgrade from the runflats as well. Proper summers like Pilot Super Sports will blow your passenger's shoes off on braking.

The tires are what stop you, bigger brakes help reduce fade and can increase initial bite but all stock brakes on production cars have the ability to lock up the wheels, the tires and the road are what provide the friction to stop

As Dackel said, BMW just says it's "normal" and won't do much about it. Try performing a bunch of very hard stops to get the brakes very hot and get them to bed in better. It sometimes works, but no guarantee. My stock brakes have been squealing since about 50% of their life. Getting some aftermarket dual-duty pads put on, because if I'm squeaking anyway, I might as well squeak in style

Definitely! I can launch at 3k-4k now without much fuss. Honestly those PS2's were either worn when I got em, or they weren't good from the get go. I finally got some decent mods to put on my car now! But I need some help installing em. Stage 2, here I come.

Side-note/off-topic: The used DCI's I bought were missing the attachment piece(the pipe that attaches to the DCI's) where can I get a cheap replacement?

Probably just worn. I've heard people praising the ps2s.

What did u get?

Any metal pipe with the right diameter will do for the dci. That's what bms gives u anyways. And a clamp on top of it

Well I for one didn't like em, they were skittish from the gitgo.
Metal pipe? I figured it was PVC... hmm... I have both the clamps, I just need to figure out a replacement pipe piece for each of the DCIs.(at least until I hear back from the guy I bought em from)

I ended up buying a used set of RR's 3" catless from a 335i. I am waiting for a rumored GB before I go for an FMIC.(the price was rumored to be $500)
