Looking for a Harness Bar

Can someone point me in the right direction? I am having a hard time finding a shop that makes a quality, removable harness bar for our cars that is NASA and BMWCCA compliant.

Thank you

BR Racing, if they're still making them.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=460080

Otherwise, custom fabrication.

From what I am told they are no longer making these things. Hard to believe we don't have a few options here.

Not much of a market.

Don't know the cage builders in your part of the world, but that's where I'd go for fabrication of a harness bar.

You might even bring along pix of the BR piece.

Just in case you didn't know:

http://www.apexperformance.net/prod-2549.htm

and

http://www.apexperformance.net/prod-2548.htm

They are made to run with stock seats, and NASA/BMWCCA approved (at least within this area they are, as I know multiple friends that ran with them for both clubs.

I personally like the Pro, as it gives a better feel like a real harness, and has the ability to take a anti-sub belt. I ordered one for my 128

PS - Search on google, Apexperformance is a sponsor on BF.c and has 10% off coupon

I'm running the Pro version of those harnesses with a sub-belt attached to a heavy structural member beneath the stock seat and coming up behind the front portion of the seat that can be adjusted for additional thigh support.

Hey Guys, I'm also looking for a harness bar but the options are really limited. I've looked around the web and found this:

http://www.amazon.com/UNIVERSAL-CIPH.../dp/B00A3FJ864

What's your take on it?

Why?

You're going to need to fab brackets to hold the actual bar, and just the amount of work needed is excessive.

Just IMO. They work just as well as any other harness.

I wanted to run something more than a 4 point.

The Pro Harness can accept a sub-belt...making it a 5 point.

Anything more, and you're overkill and should be thinking about a full cage.

With sub-belt, they may be.

I'd call Joe Marko at HMS Motorsport to discuss. Joe is a nationally-known safety expert (and a consultant to NASCAR) and the U.S. importer of Schroth harnesses.

I got my 5-pt set-up from him.

+1 Joe Marko has forgotten more than most people know. Get him to *really* talking and you might need an interpreter, or something to keep you awake...

Agree... not really a big fan of harnesses without a bar or a cage... and never been a fan of 4 point either. Good luck and keep us updated..

Yes, lots of trade-offs that anyone moving away from the stock safety systems should study and decide what risk they're comfortable accepting.

I placed a high priority on being able to wear my HANS device on track 'cause I figure a front end impact is more likely than a roll-over in which the roof collapses.

More $ than I am looking to spend. The VAC one is brilliant if I was to go this route.

Spoke with HMS today. They are the ones who told me they are not FIA cert. He said they are really tested and designed to work with stock seats, not buckets.

Sorry, didn't know you were running a bucket, fixed back seat.

You are 100% correct, they are made to be used with a stock seat...no aftermarket options.

It's all good. I should have mentioned it was a fixed back bucket in my original post. Regardless, same end result. Not many options!
