Looking for a Harness Bar
Can someone point me in the right direction? I am having a hard time finding a shop that makes a quality, removable harness bar for our cars that is NASA and BMWCCA compliant.
Thank you |

BR Racing, if they're still making them.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=460080 Otherwise, custom fabrication. Neil |

Don't know the cage builders in your part of the world, but that's where I'd go for fabrication of a harness bar. You might even bring along pix of the BR piece. Neil |

http://www.apexperformance.net/prod-2549.htm and http://www.apexperformance.net/prod-2548.htm They are made to run with stock seats, and NASA/BMWCCA approved (at least within this area they are, as I know multiple friends that ran with them for both clubs. I personally like the Pro, as it gives a better feel like a real harness, and has the ability to take a anti-sub belt. I ordered one for my 128 PS - Search on google, Apexperformance is a sponsor on BF.c and has 10% off coupon |

Hey Guys, I'm also looking for a harness bar but the options are really limited. I've looked around the web and found this:
http://www.amazon.com/UNIVERSAL-CIPH.../dp/B00A3FJ864 What's your take on it? |

You're going to need to fab brackets to hold the actual bar, and just the amount of work needed is excessive. Just IMO. They work just as well as any other harness. |

With sub-belt, they may be.
I'd call Joe Marko at HMS Motorsport to discuss. Joe is a nationally-known safety expert (and a consultant to NASCAR) and the U.S. importer of Schroth harnesses. I got my 5-pt set-up from him. Neil |

+1 Joe Marko has forgotten more than most people know. Get him to *really* talking and you might need an interpreter, or something to keep you awake... Agree... not really a big fan of harnesses without a bar or a cage... and never been a fan of 4 point either. Good luck and keep us updated.. |

I placed a high priority on being able to wear my HANS device on track 'cause I figure a front end impact is more likely than a roll-over in which the roof collapses. Neil |

Spoke with HMS today. They are the ones who told me they are not FIA cert. He said they are really tested and designed to work with stock seats, not buckets.

You are 100% correct, they are made to be used with a stock seat...no aftermarket options. |
