diy black grille & side markers

I was thinking about buying the black grille and side markers from IND but decided to try something myself.

I didn't want to paint them because I wanted the option of going back to stock look. So instead, I wrapped them.
I wrapped them with cf wrap which I had at home. I'm thinking of re-wrapping them with gloss black when I get a chance to buy them.

Tell me what you guys think

Nice! Definitely a nice savings over paying for the painted ones from IND.

Update this thread if/when you wrap them in the gloss black wrap.

Were you able to get a smooth finish on the rear end of the side marker? I tried this and was able to get a good result except for the end that is away from the M logo, I have a lot of folds and wrinkle there? Hopefully you have some advice or a technique that I can use?

How do you like the grills? I have a BSM car and the exposed carbon spoiler, do you think it would look good with that and the side markers, or gloss black is still your preference? Thank you for the post and pics.

I know what you mean by getting wrinkles on the other end. It took me a couple of tries to get it right as well.
On that end, I used a heat gun to heat the wrap until it was REALLY flexible and stretched it over the corner. (make sure you don't aim it over one direct area or the wrap will melt).
By doing this i stretched that end over the marker trim and tucked the excess in the back.
As a result I got a smooth finish

For the grilles, because I had to stretch it more than the side markers, the pattern of the cf looks little distorted. But it is on the inner part and is not too noticeable.

If your car is BSM, maybe doing cf isn't a bad option cause it'll gives more textured black rather than just blending in with the rest of your car.
For myself, I still prefer plain black because I think it'll have a cleaner finish to match my AW color.

Hope this helps a little!
