Yeah that last setup sounds pretty awesome. Similar to my muffler delete but much more exotic sounding, also sounds like a traditional BMW in that setup. I bet the SS headers with that setup would be orgasmic to the ears.

This isnt my car
I am just scoping info from the german 1er forum

To be honest I am not 100% sure the video has the 135i Performance muffler. He certainly has the Y-pipe from it which deletes the resonator. The n55 midpipe remove the secondary cat. For some, headers may not on their list, so this is prob the next best thing.

I posted the pictures to show how 135i spec mid pipe is modded to 128i, it appears he cut off the ends of his 125i/128i mid pipe and welded them on

Did you used to have a stock 135i rear? I'm wondering how it compares, either way, with what you got.

It's definitely connected to a 135i exhaust, I'm just wondering if it's stock because of the black tips. Andrey, do you have a link to thread or build?

I've had a stock 128, then a 128 PE exhaust, and now a AA 135i axle back bolted to my 128 mids. I love my exhaust now, basically the performance exhaust tone but slightly louder and with more pops and gurgles.

I also have a modded 135i exhaust. I wanted it to be loud with a deep growl and the Berk race axle back is perfect. Everyone tells me its exotic sounding and not raspy at all. That last video sounded a little to high pitched to me for some reason.

What's "MSD + ESD" stand for, or translated to English?
I'm assuming it's a deutsche acronym for "performance exhaust", just looking for some clarification.
Looks and sounds veryyy intriguing. This might be what I'm looking for!

Performance MSD = perf muffler
MSD = muffler
ESD = midpipe

I made slight error. Not perf exhaust so far seems to be 135i mufflers.

I have yet to see a 135i mid + 135i perf.
Maybe youtube has it or Vimeo

If I were to *hypothetically* buy a stock 135i exhaust, what else would I need (or would you recommend) to complete this. Stock N55 mids? What happens next? Pricing (besides for the stock exhaust)?

Kinda want to take this plunge!

Can someone help me wrap my head around this? Thanks for the education ahead.

Really don't want to get off topic, but does anyone recognize the front lip this guy has on his car?

Also, the video also has in its description that it is in fact the performance exhaust from the 135i

"gezeigt wird n 125er Coupe mit
135i N55 ESD und "Performance MSD" vom 135i (MSD entfällt)"

I just put an N55 135i exhaust on my 128 with modded stock mids. Sound is great, very muffled compared to my old AA axle back, but still with exhaust pops and a the same great tone. Overall i like it, don't feel so obnoxious when i'm driving around though i miss it at the same time. I'll post up once i have supersprint headers. i can get an exhaust clip too, since my 128 resonator has been cut off and wasn't reinstalled.

Option 1 - Muffler only
Cut & weld on 128i PE style

Option 2 - Mod 128i midpipes to have no resonator and mate to 135i muffler

Option 3 - 135i mids
Decide on which mids, Going catless compromises future headers
Decide how to mod 135i mids - cut off 128i mid ends, & weld. OR have shop fabricate ends, keeping 128i mids & exhaust safe for the future.

2x gaskets @ manifold 128i kind
4x copper bolds for mid pipes 128i
1x Gasket for 135i mids to ypipe or 135i muffler
2x bolts for 135i midpipe to muffler end joint
2x spring loaded nuts from 135i

So I went to my shop today to discuss this mod.

They highly advised against it, and told me my PE is as good as sound gets.

:/

Might look into a secondary cat or res delete now.
