I was pulled over just for tint last year on my way to Vegas. It was the Barstow court - fix it ticket plus $10 processing fee. It was $20 to remove from the front side windows. CHP signed off in about 30 seconds.

I'll probably still tint my 1's side windows after re-delivery though. It gets too damn hot in the summer...

+1 for Sunshield too.

Used non-metallic, doesn't affect comfort access. They do great job at an affordable price...when I pulled up, there were a ton of cars..but they took care of mine in less than 2 hours.

+3 for Sunshields. Just had my car done there last wednesday. They did a great job. I also had my old 135 tinted there 18 months ago. At the time Hamid sold me some ceramic tint that brought the cost to $250. This last time, his wife suggested I use their new ceramic that was a bit cheaper. I did, and they only charged me $135 for ceramic tint. Nice!!

Also when i pulled up they recognized me & remembered my name. To me that goes a long way. Plus I live in the same area, and it is nice to be able to support local businesses.

Go there, tell them Jason King sent ya.

PS That car in my sig pic is my OLD 1er, not the latest one...FYI, that is not the new tint I have, it's darker.

For those of you that had tint done, how dark did you get it?

I want to do it, but don't want it SUPER dark.

Mine is the ceramic tint. So I had it done 20% in the rear and 35% in the front. It works GREAT!! Way better than 35% all around. Will post pics soon if you need.

You can see pretty easily with 20% all around...it's dark but not black.

don't go to sunshield...

I would avoid sunshield glass tinting in sherman oaks if you can. they mistakenly tinted my car 25% when I asked for 35%. When I went back for a refund, the shady owner (Hamid) just yelled at me and argued that it was 35% even after I told him I went to another shop with a tint meter which has measured it at 25% (I had a picture as proof). He basically said that the tint meter was wrong and that he was right- at this point I was very unhappy and left. Horrible customer service.

He goes for quantity, not quality. My car was in the tinting area for only 40 minutes- everyone knows that 40 minutes is not enough time to tint a car and go a good job. His wife overbooks the appointments and I felt like I was cattle at the airport where they just herd you around. You really do get what you pay for with window tinting and I learned the hard way- there is a reason why sunshield glass tinting is so cheap. Afterwards, they didn't clean the areas under my windows and left streaks of water, soap and god knows what else all over the door panels.

They don't really pay attention to your car at all and it shows. I had to call my credit card company and dispute the payment in order to get a refund, which is ridiculous. Do not waste your time here!
