The Apex Arc-8's in what they refer to as the 1-series fitments for offset, 18" wheels. 235/40 front, 265/35 rear, PS AS4's.

Dropped my S54 headers, N52 exhaust flanges, an AC compressor, and some 40mm stainless tubing with a local acquaintance from R3VLimited. He's going to tack up the headers to the flanges and modify the #1 primary to clear the AC compressor (he has an N52 block and 6-speed that he's going to install into his Volvo 122S / BMW E30 Frankenstein, so he has a jig to work with).

It's a long thread...and the N52 doesn't come into the conversation until about 2/3 the way through.

This is Adam's 122s in the flesh (E30 chassis, no N52 yet - still M20):

No coding required, as soon as i turned the car on the compass turned on and the mirror dimmed. Home link works too!
Just started looking into this. What part number mirror did you end up using?

I mis-read this as E22 BMW (2002) with an N52 block and got very excited!

Big maintenance coming soon and all the parts are finally here!
-valve cover (again)
-water pump, thermostat
-csf radiator and new hoses

Very excited! Probably won’t be done for about a month since I’ve got a bit going on but excited nonetheless

Coral Red interior a year and a half in the making is finally complete.

I had ordered a hard-to-find Coral Red/Sport/Non-power complete interior from a popular BMW dismantler back in 2022.
Unfortunately, they did a poor job palletizing it and the passenger door panel was damaged beyond my skills to repair.

I had swapped the seats only, but left in my black door panels since I didn't have a complete, usable red set. Someone who doesn't know BMWs probably wouldn't know the difference, but it always bugged me.

Passenger window regulator died so I needed to pop off the door panel anyway, so I found a set of front-only Coral Red panels on ebay to finally complete the swap.

Took my 1er to the BMW CCA HDPE at Pacific Raceways yesterday. First time I've been on track, so it was ... educational

Car did great, other than it turns out I made the wrong decision in not going with race fluid for the brakes. I knew it was a roll o' the dice, but I didn't figure I'd be doing enough heavy braking often enough at PIR to need it. I was wrong. Kept losing the brakes going into turn 2A after 4-5 hot laps – taking it easy for a lap got them back to "good enough" for another hot lap, but that was it. Lesson learned.

As for the driver upgrade, there was significant progress throughout the day. I figured out 2A/2B well enough to consistently not get it *all* wrong, found a great flow through 5A, 5B, and 6, and now know that I need to work a lot on 3A/3B next time. I had a little off in 3B in the very last session of the day when I was experimenting with taking 3A/B in 2nd, but otherwise made it through without incident.

I've been wanting to do a track forever, but just never got around to it. So glad I can finally check that box, but of course that's not the end of it. Way too much fun to just do once.

Yesterday I had a FMIC and downpipe installed to complete my 'FBO.' Flashed to stage 2+. I didn't have time to drive it much afterwards so today was my first real test.

OMG. This! This is how the car should have come from the factory. The sound. The fury. So, so good! Absolutely love it!

I'm jealous. Still wanting to do HDPE at Pacific at some point, but I'm holding off until the VANOS recall is done on my car. Don't want to nerf it on the track if a bolt shears / comes loose.

Good call. I never realized just how fast the front straight is and how much time I'd spend under full throttle — come to think of it, I'd be interested in seeing the throttle, brake, and g-force data for my laps overlaid on the track.

My favorite spot for spectating is the edge of the (old) grandstands right at turn 9 and now that I know how it feels to go through there and even get it right a few times, I love it even more: You can see the braking zone after 7, the line taken through 8 and 9, then feel the proximity to the wall and then down the front straight. My favorite stretch as a driver, though, at least for now, are 5a/b through 6; getting the car settled into 5a for the dab on the brakes and turn-in to b, then hitting 6 just right and up the hill...

Spent the weekend getting car prepped for AutoX/HPDE season.
  • Whiteline rear subframe inserts
  • Differential fluid
  • Manual trans fluid (50/50 ATF/MTL)
  • Oil change
  • Whiteline front sway bar
  • Whiteline adjustable end links (struggled to adjust properly due to car being so low)
  • Knockout strut alignment pins and pushed struts out as far as I could

Upcoming: M3 control arms, brake pads and rotors, SSBLs, 3 stage intake, starter, power steering reservoir, OFHG.

While underneath, lots of oil (not all that surprising), think I'll need oil pan gasket soon.

Quick drive and really impressed with suspension changes and transmission.

Did you use a recording app? TrackAddict, etc? Post video or link if possible! I've done the Greer,SC PerfCtr AutoX a few times in 318is and 128i, great fun

Got the shroud made to seal up the IC nicely with the 1m bumper. Conversion almost complete now! Took a couple ideas from fe1rx so thanks for the build thread!

No, but I'll be thinking about it before the next time. Hardly even occurred to me before this first time; I was more focused on making sure I'd checked all the other boxes: Fluids, pads, driver (!), etc.
