UUC DSSR for the 128i

Does anyone know if this actually fits on the 128i?

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-uuc-part...dssr177-b~uuc/

It says it fits, but when I check UUC website, that part number is for the 135i. the one for the 128i is a different part number. (Actually, UUC does not even list an application for the 128i.) Even on RealOEM, the selector rods are different between the 128i and the 135i. Visually, it seems the only difference is that one selector rod has a bend and the other does not. For the length, I would imaging that they are about the same as well.

Hopefully someone else has tried this before I actually go ahead and make my purchase.

Thanks!

EDIT:

ok it seems that the part number DSSR177-b is for the E90 and not for the 135i, like I thought. So I guess it would fit since the 128i and the E90, 328i share the same selector rod.

Anyways, if anyone know for sure, can you let me know.

Go with the Akg DSSR if it is available. The uuc DSSR rubs against the guibo while shifting. See these uuc vs akg photos for the differences in geometry.

Edit: AKG on the top / left in the photos

That helps a lot! Thank you so much. Pics shows it all.

My only problem now is that AKG dssr has been out of stock for a long while now. I kept checking back every few months for a couple of years now and it hasn't changed.

I got the UUC as clearance item off of ECS Tuning. Can confirm it did rub on the Guibo but a grinder fixed. If doing it again and time wasn't a pressing matter I would wait for the AKG.

I emailed AKG and they said they're looking to make another batch maybe after January. Hopefully sooner than later!

I have also been bugging AKG for over a year and they keep saying they will make one in a few months... I figure if we keep annoying them enough they will make some lol.

Funny, I just emailed them yesterday asking about the N54 DSSR. The AKG is a high-grade aluminum vs the UUC's steel arm. It's also cheaper.

Had the AKG selector rod on my 128i, I was EXTREMELY happy with it.

I had a shop install the UUC DSSR in my 128i, it wasn't a direct fit and they had to do a bit of machining to the part. Once they did it went right in and feels great. Would recommend the mod but if you can find a company that makes a part that doesn't require machining i'd go that route

Did they grind out the bend a little? What part did they actually have to machine?

You have to grind away the part where the bend is as shown in MattF407's post above. Or I think @biginboca was able to make it work by switching the shift selector in the transmission to the offset piece like from an S65 transmission.

That's why I am avoiding the UUC part and waiting for AKG to re-stock theirs (some day).

As a follow up I emailed AKG again and they say the N52 DSSR was delayed, once again to prioritize more in-demand parts. No ETA.

So if any of you are looking for the AKG DSSR still I would send them another reminder that you are interested so they hopefully make a batch.

Crazy to me that after over a year of being out of stock they can't take the time to make even a small run of them.

I emailed them back in Dec when you posted before and promptly forgot to check at the end of January to see if they'd made more. I'll send another email, I'd really like to have one of these.

Bumping an old thread. Emailed AKG about this and was told another run is a couple of months off. So same ol' song and dance. But they do have a notification list you can request to be added to and get an alert when there is stock.

Hopefully that helps someone.
