I'll 2nd having a mfactory. I'm not making a much power, but have had the 3.46 diff over 40k miles so far. It hooks up reliably and works well with whatever is going on with the factory ediff. I believe there was one early batch of diffs that had issues due to a bolt supplier being out of spec iirc, but don't quote me on that.

Wavetrac review. Best for street and some track? Likely. Best for track only duty? You be the judge.

3.08 vs 3.46
I am close to pulling the trigger on an LSD for my 2012 6mt. I am leaning towards the Mfactory, but I am not so sure on the gear ratio.
What does everyone think about a 3.46 on 6MT? I am leaning this way. I suppose the 3.08 ratio would be great as well now that the LSD could help keep the ediff from interfering. |

I also have a 2012 6mt and looking into a new diff, I am leaning toward the wavetrac and sticking with the 3.08. I have a good bit of wheel spin with just stepping on it and a 3.46 I think will just make that worse.
This is why I want the lsd to limit the wheel spin and improve confidence on the twisties |

I've got a 3.46 (OS Giken clutch type) on an n55 6mt...really made it feel more lively, but you'll be rubber limited...need big/good tires. I got it to try and spool the pure stage 2 a little quicker. Made autocross feel a lot better too. |

From Europe, you can order a PnP LSD diff.
Diff is real PnP and just add the oil in and install the diff in the car. Plate LSD. Locking 25-75% and various settings selectable. The price is 1500-2300usd + shipping and possible tax. I have bought two lsd diff. e39 540i 40/15% lsd and 130i 75/30% lsd. Picture of Typ188l lsd diff that came with my 130i. 3,64 ratio, 75%/30% locking - 8 friction shims and special assimetrical 30º Accel/60º Decel ramps. Edit. E39 540i Diff Typ 215k 3,38 ratio, 40%/15% locking - 4 friction shims and special assimetrical 30º Accel/60º Decel ramps Diff has been in heavy use for several years. Works very well. Apologies 5 series... Last edited by MOD.Works; 04-11-2022 at 02:56 PM.. |

Good to know, and that makes sense. Are you still running the factory wheels? I’m also looking into some new wheels that could give me some more surface area.

I'm an idiot and autocrossing on some poor fitting Borbets right now (17x8 +13 215/45 squared), but planning to go back to 1 series spec Apex's (for a 245/255 stagger). For daily driving I'm on 18x8.5 +30 and 18x9.5 +30 (225/40 square)

But I am also interested in Rear M3 control arms(or any other upgraded parts for the subframe), and have seen some threads about it. If I am in there swapping the differential, I figure I might as well drop those in if they are worth it. I think the e92 M3 parts are what I am looking for? Anyone have feedback on that? Might just keep the stock setup, I have 50k miles on it. |
