Has anyone done installing NaviSky indash?

Hi,

I have Pioneer AVH-3300NEX and it died... I was looking to get Joying and I found NaviSky.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...c00WCiUWW&mp=1

I emailed the seller whether I need CANBUS and will it comes with wiring harness.

Has anyone used this and how was the installation went?

Thank you,
Danny

I have ordered one. Yet not installed it but a canbus decoder was included.
No install instructions so print it from the site.

I installed the Navisky F6 last year based on advice from another thread here. It's a very good unit. It's fast and sounds good. Wireless carplay works well. The screen is very bright, even at it's lowest brightness setting.

Mine came with no instructions or wiring diagram. There are only a couple manufacturers of these units that make them for different brand names. I believe this one is made by Joying, but the wiring didn't match what I found on their website. It did match a diagram for a Teyes unit.

I've had only minor issues in installation/operation
  • The canbus interface did not trigger the reverse wire in the harness for my manual 128i. I had to cut that wire and connect it directly to the reversing light relay. Hence the need for the diagram.
  • I never figured out how to wire the fan. The unit works fine without it.
  • The settings password is 3368 for my unit.
  • When the unit starts up the time is always 9:41. Not sure if this is an issue with the unit or the Agama launcher I'm using. All other settings are retained.
  • I've lost all my door chime sounds.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

They told, I do not need order separate CANBUS or wiring harness. So I guess it isn't 100% plug and play... do you mind, if you can share your instruction with me?

Any updates on the install for those who bought this? They come with the main wiring harness adapter specific for the bmw?

Hopeful that install is easy and everything works properly. Has anyone on here put one in?

How did you make your steering wheel buttons work? I tried in the setting and even holding the button, it does not recognize at all..

Everything else working otherwise? It comes with CANbus interface correct? Sounds like you might have to tap into the steering wheel control like he did with the reverse wire.

I just finished installing mine. You need to change the CAN setting from BMW 3 to x1 then all steering wheel control work normally. Pin13 or the black wire on the original harness needs to be connected to the wire on the Navisky for audio to work at all.

Looking for a double DIN solution with Android Auto for our E88. Is there any cutting behind the dash with the NaviSky like you have to do with a generic double DIN kit?

And it has all of the harnesses and everything included to work and retain the steering wheel controls? From Fortugs' post, it sounds like you only need to connect pin13 on the OEM harness to a wire on the NaviSky side and the rest is software settings and it works?

That looks WAY cheaper than getting a traditional double DIN, faceplate adapter, and several different wiring harnesses...

Ah, and you lose the door chimes with this unit, right? I see most aftermarket solutions include a harness with a new speaker.

I've been running the NaviSky for about a month now. It works really great, I mostly use apple car play with it but it also has android auto. You can download any app from the android appstore. I got the P3 version i beleive with the fan id recommend that or either of the 2 better versions. Screen is really nice and works great, display is great. I installed it with a cheap backup camera from amazon and it works great. The Head unit is basically plug and play, there is only 1 wire you will have to add as i said in previous post. You will have to change some settings in the head unit and all the steering wheel controls work. The fit of the plastic housing for the unit is really good. the mounting clips for the HVAC controls isnt great but it works. I had to minor trim around the edges to make clearance so the buttons would not stick on the HVAC controlls and on the heated seat controlls. Overall the product is great value and is exactly what i was looking for with an updated BT head unit. Works great with my e82 (stock with bmw professional head unit and i beleive hifi AMP.
