Pictures.....Please.

I have the same thoughts.

Part of me likes the all red look but I wonder what it would look like darker...or blackline.

It’s been cloudy, so I don’t have the best pics yet, but:

Replaced front brake discs and pads with Brembo replacements. Trembling is gone but will have to wait another 100 miles or so until I do some harder braking.

Put a solid 1,200 miles on it this weekend. Drove out to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for a track event with the Porsche Club. I absolutely adore that track. It is so much fun, it's ridiculous. The sharp elevation changes, and tight, off-camber corners make it very very interesting. Ran a 1:48.37, with TrackAddict indicating I could do a 1:48 dead if I could string it all together. But most importantly, I beat my father and his GTI (finally), but only just.

Car performed flawlessly all weekend. Oil temps never crossed 270, coolant temp never passed 210, brakes stayed strong all weekend, nothing broke. Very good weekend. I'm still amazed at how good a car this little 128i is. It just does everything you want it to, with little to no protest or misgivings. It's all the car anyone could ever need.

I'm also very happy with how the suspension is set up right now. It's very neutral, siding a little with being tail-happy. Lift the throttle and squeeze in a little more steering and I get a nice controllable slide going. Mash it, and it just grips up and launches out of corners. Power is another story though, as I was barely able to out run the two N/A 944's in our run group on the straights; need to fix that

Over 200k miles and driving it like it was meant to!

In the attached picture, when I took the original pads off, is this normal?

I don't think it is at all and it can probably explain why the car was shaking during braking. I dont have many years of experience and this being my first brake job by myself, I just wanted to ask more seasoned vets their thoughts on the condition of my original pads with 56k on them.

Those pads look almost new & they have 56K miles on them?
You are saying they are OE BMW?

The only odd thing is that they look basically brand new. You must never use the brakes at all The crack wouldn't cause oscillations. That could be a warped rotor, or something as simple as an uneven deposit of pad material around the rotor (bedding the brakes would fix that). My car will do the same on the first couple hard stops on-track if I don't give the brakes enough of a chance to cool before parking back in the paddock.

Did you buy anything more to bolt on top of the car? CG may still be a little too low. /s

Well, I had been busting my ass at work lately and they thanked me by laying me off last Thursday. Taking it in stride and saying “hey, you got a pile of car parts to put on...”

This will take a while.

Took her on a ~1600km holiday over the long weekend from Sydney to Byron Bay and back. Mechanically sound, didnt miss a beat...however i think I definitely would have preferred a 5 series for the journey but i'm glad I did it and even happier she made it there and back with no issues.

Also came across my mechanic on the way back with his drift car in a trailer. No medals around his neck but apparently nothing broke so he was a happy man as well.

I find that rather shocking unless they were heavily modded and lightened. Later 944s weren't exactly light and they made shit for power.
