Swap the seat bottom from the passenger seat ? The leather and foam is the same actually, only difference is the seat occupancy mat/sensor but it doesn't matter going pass to drivers. Upper foam can be adapted as well, but the skin is cut out different obviously.

On the other hand, I might want to use the passenger seat in the car at some point so scavenging parts off of it might lead to regret down the road. For the time being, I plan to just vinyl patch the tears and use it like that until I figure out a long-term solution. Thanks for the input.

Anyone have any experience with 135i exhausts on a 128i? Finally getting an M-Sport bumper so I can finally fit one. Current front runners are Dinan and Corsa. Hoping to achieve my current sounds levels (80-85% of a muffler delete) while nuking the last little bit of drone. Also interested in 135i mid pipes since I'm hoping to add flanges to make the rear section easy to remove.

Good luck! I have the 135i PE, never had the original. But the PE has a drone around 2 to 2.5k. Whatever, I just shift to the nearest gear that makes sense if I'm actually cruising at a speed where I will be hearing it for a while. I guess I'm saying - you might sorta be stuck with it, and / or it not worth the fight. |

Chasing around an electrical issue thought I just had to replace the battery but this morning I couldn't start the car up without the jump box.
if you check my thread, you'll see what steps I took to diagnose this I'm thinking it's the power cable or the ground cable underneath the car however the power cable is not flimsy nor could I easily move it so that leads me to believe it's the ground cable I haven't checked the IBS cable either but I feel like it's from the front as a couple days ago I was not able to jump the car either. Very mysterious

Anyway, I found a leather/foam seat cushion from an E92 on eBay and have ordered that and am hoping that it fits - looks like it should. It is an experiment but I bought this car as a project for my impending retirement (less than four months!). Now I just have to look out for the back rest leather - have to do a bit more research/comparing to see if the back rest has to be from an E82 or whether one from an E92 would fit. If the E92 fits, that opens up more possibilities.

Installed the driver's sport seat I picked up a few days ago. It is Sensa-Tec and ripped/torn in the usual places. I've temporarily patched it with vinyl patches that are a pretty close match. I've ordered leather seat and back covers on eBay and will install them sometime in the next few weeks. They are off of an E92 and I think (hope?) they will fit. We'll see.
Install went well - I made sure to disconnect the battery first. Everything that should work does - I've lost the heat in the seat but I may have a workaround for that as the seat cover/cushion I've ordered has heat. I will also look into how to wire the electric adjustable side bolsters. Not a great pic as it was dark but I'm pretty pleased:

The E82 sport seat in SensaTec is in Little Red. I picked up leather covers for both the seat and the back off of eBay and they arrived yesterday. But they are E92 sport seat covers and I took a chance that they were the same or close enough to fit. They appear to be, with the exception of the side airbag opening. On the E82 it has a plastic cover while the E92 is a leather panel with no such opening/cover. I assume on the E82 the plastic cover pops off when the airbag blows and on the E92, a seam gives way.
My preference is to simply swap the leather covers and not deal with the frame or the foam. I will have to pull the covers off both before I get an idea if that is possible - can I leave the leather E92 cover intact or will I have to cut an opening and use the plastic cover? If anyone has any experience with something like this, please chime in.

No, I'm switching from manual standard leather seats to manual sport seats. The passenger seat is leather but the driver's is Sensatec - the guy I got them from had swapped over to Coral Red seats and then swapped his original black leather driver seat to a friend for the friend's torn Sensatec seat. So I am re-doing it in leather but it's a lot easier to find E92 seat parts than E82. If this all works, driver seat will be in E9x Dakota leather while the rest of the car is in E8x Boston leather, but they are close enough that it will work.

Just a thought- E9x seats are, I believe, a bolt in swap with just some repining of the connectors... Might be easier to toss in a pair of them -vs- recovering e82 seats with e9x leathers?

Perhaps, and I was willing to go that route if I had found E92 manual sport seats for a decent price. But I found the E82 seats at a great price and they were close enough to pick up so no shipping costs. I'm okay with the recovering job as I bought this car as a project car so I could learn new skills in my middle age.

Car started burning oil again on startup and occasionally at idle again. Issue went away when I replaced the VCG a couple months ago but now its back with a vengeance. Gave the area by the manifold a quick lookover and didn't see any signs of a leak. Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

When I had that on my truck it was the valve seals - keeps the oil from running down them from the top side and getting mixed into the combustion. Previous owner overheated the thing, and cracked the heads. I replaced the heads, but the valve seals on them sucked and popped off. Smoke city.

Pulled the trigger on summer tires for Little Red today. I have a new set of Apex Arc-8, 17x8.5, ET40 just waiting for the right deal on tires. Costco has $150 off on Michelins so I went with Pilot Sport 4S 235/45R17. Looking forward to what Little Red will be able to do on some serious rubber. I'm keeping the stock wheels and the all-season Sumitomos I put on it just after I bought it as the winter set.
