Every of us already need LSD when it starts to rain, when it's snowing, when it's bumpy and all the other situations. Why M3 with less torque have it? Because it is better more expensive car.

If you can buy it do it.

I think you have this reversed. In fact, you quoted what I believe is the correct interpretation and agreed with it, but then wrote the opposite in response...

DTC mode definitely still has traction control, and it still seems to be fairly invasive. My subjective impression is in a straight line it the traction control acts the same in DTC mode or normal (all driver aids on) mode. It doesn't seem to go so nuts about hitting potholes or even just pavement breaks, though.

For what its worth with regards to your other lengthy post, I wouldn't suggest people drive around with all the driver aids off on the streets. I leave it all on when driving on the street, thought I disable it all for autocross.

I also strongly agree with your suggestion that people get out and autocross their car before spending $3500 on an LSD.

Definitely get some more tire on your car first as well. Apex has two sets of wheels that give you great fitment in the odd-ball rear offset for the 1 series (+58? +62?). EC-7 and ARC-8 will let you run 265- or 275/35/18 rear with no issues on stock suspenion. Switch over to something like a Dunlop Star Spec, Toyo R1R, or Michelon PSS will yield huge gains as well. Wheels + tires will be ~$2200 but that is worth it.

i wouldn't say hard to grasp... more hard to believe. can you provide some kind of verifiable reference that you've been driving touring cars professionally for the last 5 years, from ages 13 to 18? the only google result for "touring car" and "john dempsey" is when you made the claim earlier in this thread. i'd expect to see your name in lots of professional touring car race results.

My used donor diff came in yesterday. The salvage yard that I brought it from didn't really know what they had. The diff is bolted and he sold it to me for $325. I will hopefully get the Quaife installed in the next few weeks.

Ok, so maybe I'm not understanding correctly.

What donor diff are you using?
What gear ratio?

I didn't think there was a bolted diff for manuals available.
Unless you're changing to the auto gear ratio.

Manual 3.08 from 335i. All 135i's and post Feb March 2007 335i's had welded carriers, which meant it is impossible to do an LSD swap unless you want to pay $300+ to get the carrier machined. However, all pre March manual 335i's had a bolted diff but they are very rare and hard to find. I got very lucky and found one.

although not professional, even recreational participation in touring car racing is unusual for a 13 year old. so which touring cars have you been racing, and in which series? i'm quite curious about the extent of your experience with touring car racing.

the truck looks fun, and congrats on racing offroad on a big stage like the lucas series. thanks for the pm... lets not call it touring car racing, though. lets call it schools, track days, and vintage club racing. your earlier post sounded like you were telling us that you race in a touring car series like btcc or dtm. i'm sure that was not your intention.

I would call a track prepped subi a touring car. So what I didn't race it in a big series. But whatever. I'm done arguing with everyone.

Here you used AND which is a non-contrasting coordinating conjunction. So effectively you combined both "touring cars" and "Offroad cars" as the direct object of the modified present perfect verb "I've driven...professionally". So you did in fact tell us you have driven touring cars professionally since you were 13, he was not wrong to take it that way.
If you take it that way sure. Or it could be I've driven touring cars, and Offroad cars professionally. So dude. Get over it. Kick rocks!

according to what you told me in your PM, you didn't race it at all. i'm starting to think it's no coincidence that your rhetoric all vaguely suggests a substantial road racing resume, while not specifically referencing anything.

have you considered politics?

I unfortunately totaled my 135 in Jan. However, it was great while I had it and I would highly recommend an LSD if you have a tuned 135i. I am now in a 2009 Z4 35i.

I'd love to see a 135i w/ and w/ out an LSD do the same run / same driver and compare times. Otherwise I'm not sold.
